Olivia is a Swedish-Australian abstract artist & portrait photographer who creates vibrant, colourful art using acrylic paint and mixed media.

Olivia is a Swedish-Australian artist, who discovered her need for creativity after chronic illness rendered her house bound and often even bedridden. Painting and photography was her way of surviving emotionally. Olivia's work is colourful and vibrant, and expresses a sense of joy and peace, which is how she feels when she paints. She hopes her work will encourage others to bring colour and art i

nto their lives, as a way of enriching their own well-being. She creates predominantly acrylic and mixed media abstract pieces, though she is also an avid portrait photographer. Her portraits often combine photography and art, as she uses her abstract paintings in the background of the portraits to give them a sense of vibrancy and urgency. She's exhibited extensively locally, at cafes and homeware stores, has been part of many SALA exhibitions, and has donated pieces to various causes. Yay! I'm so excited I got accepted into the Walkerville Art Show 2023. They have selected 5 paintings of mine to include in the exhibition. Eeeeek!!!
Including this pink one in the picture.

5 of my brightest, (and biggest) most colourful pieces will be on display from tomorrow evening.

Opening night starts at 6pm (Friday 6th Oct) and will be attended by the South Australian Premier. Fancy!!! 😆

It's at the St Andrew's School gymnasium on the corner of Smith St and Church Tce, Walkerville.

Keeping my fingers crossed I feel well enough to go to opening night. 🤞

FIRST PORTRAIT SHOOT IN YEARS!!!

So I stopped doing portrait shoots a few years ago. I was too unwell but also my studio had become too dark from the neighbours trees growing too big and blocking the light from the window.

I tried different set-ups outdoors with no luck (too much green light bouncing off the grass and yellow light off the yellow bricks).

But my friend Christine asked me the other day if I would help her out with some photos and I thought I’ll just check how the light in the studio is looking today.

Amazingly it looked perfect, so we did the shoot in the studio in front of the widow like I used to. And the photos look fantastic! No yellow or green light, not too dark! It was the perfect kind of overcast, even cloud coverage but still very bright.

So it appears that while the neighbour’s trees stand bare over winter, I can use my studio again for photo shoots!

So I am open to taking requests for the next few months if anyone needs some shots.

I’m only using my iPad, as my eyes are not great, so have a look at the photos I’ll be posting of my shoot with Christine and see if the resolution is enough for you.

When I use my paintings as backdrops for portraits it’s not only for humans. I’ve been waiting for ginger boy to pose for me in front of my current bedroom arrangement as his deep ginger colour looks beautiful against the purple and green. And today was my lucky day! So here is some cat spam! 😁

Bedroom vibes.! Am obsessed with purple at the moment so decided to bring it into my bedroom. In love with this combination of purple and green art along with all my crystals. Very soothing vibes for when I’m resting during the day.

Ever notice how different colours have different effects on how you feel. I believe the way a certain colour makes you feel is unique to you. To me purple especially combined with green is soothing and uplifting, and makes me feel connected to my higher self.

You can use art around your house for colour therapy by looking at different coloured art depending on your mood. Even if you don’t know what each colour does for you, if you are drawn to a particular colour it means you need that colour right now, so try surrounding yourself with it, wear it in your clothes, look at art of that colour. And see how it makes you feel.

Feel like doing something fun? 😊

Come along to the launch party for the Mindshare SA group exhibition that I'm participating in this Friday 4-6pm at the North Adelaide Community Centre.

Tickets are free but please book as entry is limited to 100 people.

I would so love to go myself but my back and health still don't allow it. So you'll have to go instead and tell me all about it and share any photos you take. 😊

Aha! I did it! I managed to snap a good picture of this one. He doesn’t like to pose for photos. 😁

This is how I like to do portraits, with one of my paintings as a backdrop for extra spiffiness.

Never before released mixed media collage piece!!! 😁

Am digging through all my work to find unfinished pieces I can work on, and came across this piece I've never shown before. 😲

What do you think?

Would look best behind a glass frame. But you could rest it as is on top a dresser or something like that.
