There’s a raw, physical beauty to Sophie Cape’s work — you can feel the movement in every mark. ⁠
⁠
Before turning to art, she was a national-level skier and cyclist, and that same intensity runs through her process. Her canvases are dragged, thrown, marked, and even buried in the landscape itself. ⁠
⁠
Working outdoors rather than in a studio, she uses whatever the environment offers — sticks, leaves, bones, soil, rust, and sometimes a night of rain — building surfaces that move with nature’s innate rhythm. ⁠
