Windows - drafty, cold, condensation, double vs triple glazing, acoustics, privacy, size, tilt vs sliding, increasing power bills due to lack of thermal efficiency - you name it, we've discussed it, especially in our High Country renovation projects where it's a cooler climate.
A full window replacement is a large budget item, but inevitably, it's essential to stop all the issues mentioned above. Our Alpine Glow project installed BINQ uPVC windows, which outperform standard aluminium windows by over 70% in thermal performance, achieving U-values as low as 1. I'd been dying to use them for years, and after 'feeling' the performance this winter when I visited the house recently, I can't go back.
Bonus - all their products are made in Australia, built for Australia's climate. By installing above the AU standard and prioritising thermally efficienct, quality windows, you also cut your power bills for years to come.
FYI - no affiliate payment here, this is purely my opinion after replacing or installing new windows in dozens of homes over the past eight years.
