Today I was doing a stocktake of my quilts and admiring the quilting and work we put into them. It was then I thought one doesn't give enough recognition to the quilters. I rarely quilt my pieced quilts preferring to send them to a long arm quilter. This gorgeous baby Giraffe quilt was done by Ali Byrne who never disappoints often working with my not so perfect sewing.

From time to time I enjoy stitching out smaller projects - but then what to do with them? I've pieced a wonderful quilt which I'm in the process of finishing which includes a panel of sayings. The question what to do with left overs? Using recycled denim I decided on a purse because we can never have too many purses - right !?

I've been busy working and finishing off a few quilts and decided I'd have a break and sew up some purses. This particular purse is so pretty with quilted patchwork on one side and a quilted heart sewn onto to upcycled denim on the reverse.

Last year I was approached by a dear friend who asked if I could arrange for a quilt to be completed. The exquisite hand embroidered blocks of the 12 days of Christmas was quite the challenge. This project became a group effort with a couple of ladies from my Bay Quilters Wynnum group. I managed to sew the blocks together and Mary finished it with beautiful quilting. We entered it in the Mt Gravatt show and are delighted that it won first prize in the Group category.

Most quilters are fabric hoarders and I'm no exception! A couple of months ago while looking through my fabric drawers I came across a couple of jelly rolls I'd purchased ages ago and decided I should use them. My 'doggy' quilt is the result with the backing also keeping with the 'doggy' theme. I think it's so cute. It's to be donated to the Children's Hospital in Brisbane in the hope it can bring a little comfort.
