This beautiful bowl carries more than just a few cracks.
It belonged to my client’s grandmother, a wonderfully elegant and reserved woman who made the most incredible shortbread and lemon curd for her grandchildren. She always loved this bowl, especially its fluid shape and striking colours. After her grandmother passed, no one else wanted it, so she happily took it home and kept it for many years.
After an unfortunate accident involving a granddaughter, a dropped bowl and a very hard floor, the pieces have come back together through kintsugi.
Perhaps fittingly, she has decided to one day pass the bowl on to that same granddaughter — a little piece of family history, repaired and ready to carry more precious, warm memories.
