Hello and happy Sunday beautiful people ☺️

Tiny Giraffe is simplifying where it shows up online.

After some thought, I’ve decided to discontinue this page and focus my energy on slower, more meaningful spaces where I can tell better stories: my website, blog, YouTube, and studio newsletter.

Tiny Giraffe has always been about place, story, memory and artwork with a deeper sense of belonging. Those stories need a little more room than social media often allows.

And I’ve never been concise 😂

Over the last 18 months, I’ve also been teaching myself videography. It has been a beautiful and rewarding journey, and feels like a combination of two things I love most: art and photography, brought to life.

It has become part of who I am and how I want to share stories. These videos take a lot longer to create, so I want to focus more of my time and energy there too.

✨🎨On the drawing board for Tiny Giraffe…

A little glimpse of the place-based artworks taking shape in my art studio: farm maps for two special families in New Zealand, a magnolia wallpaper mural for a lovely lady, and a Philippines-inspired patterned wallpaper for a beautiful Brisbane home renovation.

Every project begins with a place, a memory, a story, or a landscape someone wants to keep close.

🎨Art Residency Week 1:

My first week at Beelarong Community Farm was such a special experience, and the sunshine was pouring in each day I visited.

I had so many lovely and funny chats with members. Big thanks to Des for the epic business advice! The peaceful, nature-filled setting and view across the farm brought me a calm energy I hadn’t felt in a while.

I typically work from my home studio and it was wonderful to step away from paid work to do something creative for myself.

I’m excited to see how this unfolds, and I have two new art mediums I will be exploring.

My vibe / theme for Week 1 was ARRIVE AND ABSORB 💚🌿

Here’s what I got up to:

* took my art supplies over to the cottage
* walked the property
* photographed flowers/plants/textures/light
* filmed atmosphere and took some B-roll footage
* sketched the cottage floor plan and elevations so I could imagine art sizes of what I might create
* journalled observations
* started a visual sketchbook of ideas
* got my bike fixed so I could start riding over!

Brisbane 💛 My hometown. Hand drawn, printed on fine art paper in gold foil letterpress.

I moved from Toowoomba to Brisbane in 2002 to start university (landscape architecture), made life-long friends, fell in love, bought a home and started Tiny Giraffe. So many treasured life moments have happened to me here!

Brisbane charms me with her endless blue sky days, subtropical plants, balmy breezes, highset timber cottages and laid back lifestyle. When the flame trees and Jacarandas are in bloom, it’s unbelievably beautiful. Oh and Brisbane brunch is next level!

I love you baby Brisbane! You’re growing up real big.
