My son, almost 13, took this snap just before the courier arrived to take my work to Inverell for my show with

I told him I probably wouldn't post it because I look a bit serious, and he said something along the lines of 'it's your work, it is serious'. How true.

My work is all done from a little studio / spare bedroom at the front of the house & my children are witness to it all. What a gift! I value their views so much yet forget to ask their thoughts too often.

'Just before sleep'
I painted this with memories of a trip to Lightning Ridge a few years ago. Camping in the tent for the first time as a solo parent, with my 3 kids all warm & happy. Expansive, clear night skies offering all the clarity I needed, but also reminding me of the brave new world I was stepping into. The stars have a way of guiding us & like I've said many times before, they belong to everyone! No wars, or politics can change that ❤️

I often consider myself an abstract painter who adds a simple horizon line & some expressive little trees. Without either, it's feelings & atmosphere expressed through layers of colour & strokes. Sailing between landscapes & abstraction is the dance that keeps me moving forward. Always pushing the work. I don't want to just paint what I know. No fun in that!
