Creating this self-portrait in Bolivia during a time of uncertainty and road blockages, I found myself reflecting on Matthew 5:11-12
Over the past weeks, I have witnessed the effects of political tensions, road blockages, uncertainty, and the disruption these events can bring to everyday life.
In the middle of it all, I found myself turning to art, reflection, and scripture.
While sketching this self-portrait with pen and ink, the words of Matthew 5:11-12 came to mind:
“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven…”
These words reminded me that throughout history people have faced challenges, criticism, hardship, and uncertainty, yet continued to move forward with faith and purpose.
Art has always been a way for me to process the world around me.
This drawing is not about politics. It is about reflection, perseverance, and finding meaning through creativity during difficult times.
A quiet moment of ink, faith, and contemplation from my sketchbook here in Bolivia.
