Thanks for a wonderful show. Cloverleaf entered fleeces only this year; and all are for sale (pls pm me). I want to recognise the sponsors and organisers as none of this would be possible without them; so this might be a lengthy post.
Cloverleaf was awarded:
-Reserve Champ fleece of show*, thank you to sponsor Barwon & Yarra Valley Wool Buyer & Brokers Pty LTD, second to a gorgeous Merino fleece.
-Best hand spinners fleece, thanks Geelong Handweavers and Spinners Guild and thank you to sponsor Mrs Carolyn Elder for this trophy and the Bunnings Gift Card!
-Most attractive fleece other than Merino, Gaining F.O. Whitcroft memorial Trophy
-Best Crossbred/comeback* fleece gaining the Ned Earl Memorial Trophy
-First Corriedale Lambs
-First and third Corriedale Ewe
-First Coloured fleece (sold): This was the only fleece entered; however there is a story that the fleece was judged and might have been in the running for Champion.... however this was a step too far so was re-judged so as not to gain this place. Love it!
A huge shout out to Jess from who on a whim entered a lovely fleece and split my two entries, fantastic! A mention to Tess who leads the Flinders College for all the great work she does and preparing a magnificent Rams fleece that rightly was awarded best Corriedale Fleece (Guy Wettenhall Perpetual Trophy and Stanbury Corriedale Perpetual Trophy Sponsored by the Poulston Family.)
Ribbons are not what I pursue. My aim is to have the fleeces benchmarked by peers and experts. I love the sheep and what they produce and to have this supported by commercial wool industry professionals and wool spinners experts is a privilege. It also keeps me honest with my fleeces. Thank you Royal Geelong and Heather Stoney for all you do. All fleeces are for sale, on sale @ $20/kg.
*entered as a crossbred fleece as this was a heterozygous sheep (has a black sheep in its heritage)
