We know you feel it…because we hear it
“why are wedding flowers so expensive?”
“You say WEDDING and the price triples”
We are here to give you some answers -
Why are wedding flowers so expensive?
(& no there is no wedding tax)
Well…yes flowers cost money…everything does
Expensive? It depends what you are comparing your floral quote to —
Are you comparing your $360 bridal bouquet to the supermarket flower bunch at Coles? Because they are definitely not the same.
Supermarket bunches can be made by robots,
The flowers are bought in bulk, from whatever flowers are available at the time, no colour choice or specific flower variety choice - you get what you get (& sometimes there’s limp and lifeless bunches for sale - not even worth it)
Your bridal bouquet is made by a human, with love and care. It’s made from flowers you’ve requested, in your specific colour palette, flowers are wired so they are more sturdy (this takes time and time is money), the construction of a bouquet is an art. - if it’s not constructed well, it falls apart - hardly what you want on your wedding day. Your bouquet is made from@the best flowers in the bunch, made at a specific time on a specific day and delivered at a precise time so it’s looking its best.
You pay for choice, for design and art and for security that you are actually going to get your dream flowers before the photographer arrives
This is a very very different scenario than walking into Coles and picking up whatever has been sitting in the bucket all day.
Compare your floral quote to an electricians quote:
Yes there’s a travel/delivery fee
Yes there’s the cost of parts (flowers) with markup (profit) - because we cannot work for free - neither can your electrician
Yes there’s a labour fee
After the electrician has completed his work and has said, that’ll be $3200. Do you say “oh…that wasn’t my budget…can you maybe do it for less than $2000? That’s what I wanted to pay…..but I still want the top of the range lights - I love them, and I need the 3 new PowerPoints…can you just do it cheaper!”
Why do we question the cost of flowers but just pay an electricians bill?
