Case Study: SharpCraft Hair Salon

We initially installed 3M Prestige window tint on SharpCraft’s lower windows, while the upper panels remained untreated.

With direct sunlight still streaming through the upper glass, plus heat from hairdryers and styling equipment, the air con struggled to keep up. Customers were complaining, and so were the stylists. Nobody wants to spend the day cutting hair with sweaty armpits!

To work within the owner’s budget, we installed LLumar film on the upper windows, extending solar heat and UV protection to the remaining glass and reducing glare.

A natural finish without the silver mirrored look, complementing the salon’s shopfront.

We installed XPEL Blend DR 17 to reduce heat and glare, add daytime privacy, and give the front windows a sharp finish that suits the building perfectly. The subtle golden tone works beautifully with the existing colours.

A security specialist needs a bit of privacy too. 😉

If only every installation was actually this fast. 😂

Measure, pre-cut, roll, prepare, clean the glass, spray, position, squeegee, trim, squeegee again and repeat.

You see a darker window.
We see all the tiny details that had to go right.

We’ve been flat out lately, so the Facebook updates have fallen a bit behind.

The old film on this home started bubbling after only two years. The owners decided to have a crack at removing it themselves, and quickly discovered it wasn’t the easy weekend job they had in mind. 😆

They wanted the same dark colour without a reflective finish, so LLumar NS10 was spot on. Clean look, better privacy and less heat and glare.

We had to beat the sun on this one. 🥵 Tinting glass while the sun is baking it is no fun...It’s hot, and the film dries out before you’ve had a chance to work with it.

The result came up great. Safe to say the owners won’t be volunteering for film removal again. 😅

On Wednesday we were out in Arana Hills for another old film removal and re-tint for Raelene.

At first, I thought we got lucky. The first piece peeled straight off and I thought, beauty… this is going to be easy!

Turns out that first piece was the lucky one.

Most of the remaining film separated during removal. The brittle top layer came off, while the faded bottom layer and adhesive had basically cooked themselves onto the glass.

If you know, you know. 😅

It took us around 2 hours just to completely strip and clean the glass before we could start tinting.
Somewhere along the way, I also managed to cut my fingers twice. Not winning today.

A great combo of sweat, blood, soapy water and glue remover.

But the end result came up great. Clean finish, fresh film and that natural black look the customers absolutely loved. 👌

Old film removal is always a bit of a lucky dip. You never really know what you’re dealing with until you start peeling. Wednesday definitely wasn’t our lucky day, but we got there in the end!

And probably the best part of the day came right at the end. Raelene’s little girl was hiding shyly next to Mum and told me she wanted to give me $5 from her lunch money because she was so impressed with my work. 🥹

That might be one of the cutest tips I’ve ever received.

Don’t worry, I’ll put it to very good use… coffee and biscuits. 😂

When the glare gets so bad that the reception team literally has to open an umbrella indoors to block the sun… ☂️😂

That was the situation at Joel’s Garage. The front reception area was dealing with harsh glare throughout the day, making it uncomfortable on the eyes and harder to stay focused while working.

And realistically, you can’t exactly sit at reception wearing sunglasses while serving customers. 😎

We installed LLumar NS10 window film, and as soon as the job was finished, everyone said the same thing:

“That’s so much better!”

Less glare. Less eye strain. A more comfortable workspace and a better environment to get the job done.
