I absolutely adore this one. ❤️

The Studio Colour Women’s Cropped Cotton Jacket is now online — and this is one I will definitely be wearing myself.

I wanted the front to stay relatively quiet and easy to wear, with the muted lavender-grey body and warm ochre collar, then let the original artwork become the surprise across the back.

That contrast is exactly what I was hoping for: a jacket that can work with jeans, trousers, a skirt or over a dress, but still clearly feels like a piece of artist-designed wearable art.

It is made from substantial 245 GSM cotton, with a cropped silhouette, mid-length sleeves, classic collar, button front and pocket.

I’m especially looking forward to filming this one properly. Tomorrow, I plan to start creating short videos showing the pieces being worn — how they sit, how the fabric moves, how the colour looks in real life, and what the artwork looks like from different angles.

For me, that feels important. I don’t just want to show supplier mock-ups; I want to show what these pieces are actually like to live in and wear.

Coming soon — a new 100% cotton wearable art dress 🌿

I’m currently trialling this artist-designed cotton skater dress for the developing Maria Grujicic Studio wearable art collection.

I love the balance in this piece — a calm blue-grey bodice with a vibrant skirt created from one of my original artworks.

The idea is simple: one dress, one complete outfit. Add shoes, a hat or a scarf and you’re ready to go.

I’m especially excited that this version is 100% cotton, which makes it an important one for me to test for comfort, breathability, fit, print quality and shrinkage before deciding whether it joins the permanent collection.

I’m interested in clothing that can feel expressive without requiring a wardrobe full of pieces — just a few special garments that can be worn and styled again and again.

The dress I keep reaching for 💜💙

I’ve been wearing this artist-designed dress everywhere — it is comfortable, free-flowing and genuinely lovely to move in. The colours look beautiful in the finished garment, and I receive comments about it whenever I wear it.

These photographs show the real dress rather than only a mock-up: the fit, movement, front and back, fabric, inside construction and Maria Grujicic Studio label.

Out and about in Darwin’s C*D today, sharing my beautiful book, From Colour to Mask, with a few retailers. So good to be in the city, having conversations and seeing people respond to something I’ve created.

There’s something special about stepping out of the studio and watching someone open your book for the first time. I came home encouraged—and happy to have shared a little of my creative world.

Darwin Sun — Skater Dress | Tactile Wearable Art Edition ☀️🎨
Some artworks begin with a clear idea. Others appear through the process.

The original image behind Darwin Sun developed while I was experimenting with print, colour and form in the studio. I wasn’t trying to force a particular picture to appear — and that was part of what made the result so interesting. As I worked, an unexpected image began to emerge. It was one of those studio moments where you suddenly stop and think, there it is.

I later translated that original artwork into this artist-designed skater dress, allowing the colours and forms to move across the body rather than remain fixed on a wall.

I’ve now worn and tested the finished dress myself, and it has become one of the pieces I reach for again and again. It is comfortable, free-flowing and wonderful to move in — and I regularly receive comments about how beautiful it looks.
The full blue skirt creates lovely movement, while the artwork across the bodice becomes completely different as the garment moves.

This short wearable-art film shows the dress as I actually experience it: front, back, movement, fit and detail.

New Studio Notes 🌿🎨

I’ve written a reflection on my recent Mystery Plants & Trees workshop at the Starlight Express Room in Darwin.

I share how the workshop began with a personal story from the Ludmilla bushblock, how I used my 3 Steps to the Artist in You – The Maria Grujicic Studio Method, and how natural materials, drawing, watercolour pencils, storytelling and song helped each participant create something different.

One of the things I loved most was seeing how every artwork became its own story.

The dress I keep reaching for 💜💙
I’ve been wearing this artist-designed dress everywhere, and I genuinely love how comfortable and free-flowing it is.

The artwork moves beautifully across the bodice, the blue skirt has a lovely drape, and the whole dress feels easy to wear. I’ve had so many lovely comments about it — and even my mum, who has a very discerning eye, loves it too. 😊

I really love the look and feel of this dress — and, most importantly, I’ve now seen how it works on my own child.
She found it cool, comfortable and very easy to wear, and I love the way the loose shape falls and moves when it’s actually on. It looks just as lovely worn simply on its own, or you could add leggings underneath when you want a little more coverage or another layer.
The dress is made from 100% cotton, with a simple sleeveless shape and original Curl Study artwork in lavender, blue-violet and warm coral tones.

For me, children’s clothing needs to do more than look good — children need to be able to move, play and feel comfortable in it. This one passed that test beautifully for us. 💜
