Desire To Sketch Professional Development & Child Safety Update!
Over the last few weeks, I've been spending some time behind the scenes focusing on something that is incredibly important to me and my business - continuing to strengthen my knowledge and understanding of child safety.
I'm proud to have recently completed:
✅ Foundations of Child Safety Training
✅ Protecting Children – Mandatory Reporting and Other Obligations for Early Childhood
As many of you know, I teach and mentor children every week and have the privilege of watching them grow not only as artists, but also in confidence, resilience and self-belief.
While these qualifications are not currently mandatory for my business, art classesand mentoring, I believe that when you work closely with children, ongoing learning, professional development and child safety training should always be a priority.
For me, it's not about meeting a minimum requirement. It's about continually improving the knowledge, skills and safeguards I can provide to the children and families who place their trust in me. Creating a safe, supportive and positive environment has always been one of my highest priorities and these courses have strengthened my understanding of child safety, recognising concerns, mandatory reporting obligations and child-safe practices.
These qualifications sit alongside my Working With Children Check, Police Check, Creative Arts Coach Certification, years of working in Aged Care, years of teaching experience and the child-safe practices already in place within my studio.
Most importantly, they reflect my commitment to creating an environment where children feel safe, supported, respected and encouraged to be themselves.
This is only the beginning.
Over the coming months, I'll be continuing my professional development by completing additional training.
I'll also be reviewing and updating policies, procedures and documentation where appropriate to ensure Desire To Sketch continues to grow in a way that reflects the highest standards of care, professionalism and child safety.
The trust families place in me is something I never take lightly and I believe there is always room to learn, improve and do better.
Thank you to all the families who continue to support Desire To Sketch allowing us to be part of your child's creative journey. ❤️
