The monster stage! The undersketch disappeared when I applied the acrylic wash, so there’s a little bit of ‘winging it’ involved here! The underpainting didn’t go as planned, and that’s okay!

I think it’s important to share the ugly stages of art, rather than just a completed piece.

Capturing this special moment in time in oil paint was something I knew I wanted to do the minute I Iaid eyes on the photograph.

I loved every second painting this piece & I’m so proud of how it turned out. I will miss having it on my easel!
