Some of these early flips make me cringe now.
The colours. The styling. The techniques. The questionable design choices…
But I’m also really glad I didn’t wait until I was “good enough” to start.
Because I wouldn’t have 12 years of experience behind me if I had.
I learnt by doing.
By choosing the wrong pieces.
Buying products I probably didn’t need.
Undercharging for my work.
Trying techniques that absolutely did NOT work.
And making plenty of mistakes along the way.
Every piece taught me something.
And slowly, I got better.
My technique improved.
My eye for design developed.
I became faster.
I trusted myself.
I learnt which pieces were actually worth flipping.
I got better at pricing my work.
And eventually, I learnt how to turn furniture flipping into something that actually made me money.
You are allowed to be a beginner.
Your first flip doesn’t need to look like someone else’s 100th.
You don’t need the perfect workshop.
You don’t need every tool.
And you definitely don’t need to know everything before you begin.
You just need to start.
But you also don’t have to spend 12 years figuring everything out the hard way like I did.
