Carpet and vinyl removed. So we could attack this floor and get the nice natural colours of the timber back. While the glue in the kitchen and the hump over the steel beam slowed us down, we ended up with some stunning results. Our commercial strength waterbased system won’t orange and will only go a bit lighter in the sun over time.

Check out this beautiful American Oak. This job had some of the worst reverse cupping I’ve come across.
Reverse cupping is caused when the floor cups due to water damage and the floor sander doesn’t allow the floor to dry properly. They sand all the high peaks off the floor only for the floor to dry out and and level out but they’ve now sanded far to much off the edges causing the edges to now be lower.
But as you can see, we now have a flat floor, with a natural finish.

Top floor apartment and these were the top floors within the apartment. A lot of stairs and a lot of sun. The sun can stain the timber leaving a yellow colour. We sanded extremely aggressively to get this beautiful natural colour back. The waterbase will lighten over time under these conditions but won’t orange!

I’ve fallen behind a little in my posts. Pretty hectic few weeks but as always we are delivering on time. One thing with this trade is people have usually moved out, or are looking at moving in on certain dates, so we have some pretty strict deadlines. On this one to make it work, my colleague came in on Easter Monday to help lay the floor. The layer who did an amazing job had fallen behind after needing to turn this rough $1.00 a lineal meter firewood I mean flooring into a floor. Great team effort with amazing results. This is our waterbased semi gloss.
