This chair by Annie Sloan Star Painter Sabah of JustRestore was inspired by her travels through Asia.
Sabah transformed this piece into a serene koi pond using Chalk Paint by Annie Sloan. She painted the chair frame in Napoleonic Blue, created the mottled water with shades like Frida Blue, Giverny, Greek Blue, and Oxford Navy, and brought the lotus flowers and koi to life using English Yellow, Barcelona Orange, Emperor’s Silk, Paprika Red, and Metallic Gold accents before sealing with Clear Wax.
"The seat of this chair was the perfect canvas for me to create my “Koi pond”. Textured strokes of blue with the brightly hued Koi was my vision for it and I’m so happy with how it looks. I added some lotus and lotus leaves to bring the scene together.
I’ve always been inspired by my travels to the Far East, especially Japan and China, where artwork has so much meaning and significance. Koi fish are symbols of strength, prosperity, courage and perseverance. Legend has it that koi fish swam up a waterfall and emerged as a golden dragon."
Well, we are inspired Sabah, and we can definitely see why you are one of Annie's Star Painters! 🎏 🌟
