Sometimes I'll start a painting and I'll feel the enthusiasm behind it fall away instead of pushing through. Sometimes I will look to start a new.

What a beautiful day to be out painting

It's been a great trip so far. Camped behind the beautiful Border Inn Hotel . I was delighted to wake up to some beautiful scenery just out my door ready for painting early this morning. Back on the road now homebound.

Today's painting location looks very different now that the fog had lifted. Fighting the mossies Plein air painting is making me work quicker. About to turn my chair around and paint in the other direction.

I love a good road trip especially when it's exploring places I have not seen. Here's just a short snippet of our trip.

One of the parts of painting that I really enjoy is developing the names. (I never thought I'd be saying this considering how dyslexic I am).

Often the name comes to me early when I first see a place or take a photo. Other times they develop as an idea as I work on the painting.

Most of the time they involve a part of the painting you can't see, something that you can feel but may not understand. A year, day or a moment in time all can help develop a better understanding of place and connection.

When visiting galleries I love reading the names and artist statements, learning what the artist wants me to know and how that differs from what I see.

What does a title mean to you and do you too search them out?

Right back into it. If you're anyone that knows me, you know I'm not good at feeling unproductive. If I can't get out to my plan painting spot this week, don't worry, I'll find a way, even if it's in front of the fire in my front lounge room.

Out painting today at a local reserve. There is really something about painting Plein air that just feels right. The perspective and my ability to see the changing colours. I can't wait to do more soon.
