It’s been a busy couple of months behind the scenes at Banksia Bay Living.

I’ve been investing in further training and professional development to strengthen the professional organising and decluttering side of the business — completing NAT11079006 Undertake Decluttering through the Australian College of Environmental Studies and becoming a Professional Member of the Institute of Professional Organisers (IOPO).

Professional organising is one part of the broader work I do through Banksia Bay Living, alongside human-centred interior design, space planning and styling — all with the same aim: helping create homes that better support the people living in them.

Making room for what matters. 🤍

Our homes can affect how we feel in ways we don't always realise — until something changes.

This project began at a time of transition. The home had become overwhelming, and preparing it for sale was beginning to feel like an enormous task for the homeowners.

Together, we worked through the home thoughtfully — decluttering, reorganising, improving layout and flow, repositioning existing furniture and making considered changes along the way.

The aim wasn’t to achieve perfection. It was to create a home that felt calmer and more manageable, supported the homeowners through the transition, and was better prepared for what was to come next.

Reading these words afterwards meant a great deal. 🤍

Making room for what matters.

Nature's Palette | Amber Glow & Beyond the Sunset

There is something about the sunset
that never fails to stir my soul.

Each and every day,
a sky unique and fleeting.

Never two painted the same.

Always on time, always returning.

Intentional.
Never accidental.
Always generously given.

Like a warm love letter,

wrapping the day

in light,

peace

and love.

The invitation is always there.

The gift, freely given.

Will we turn to see?

Our homes don't need to be perfect to make a meaningful difference to our everyday lives.

Sometimes it's the small changes, thoughtful decisions, and spaces that truly support the people who live in them that have the greatest impact.

At Banksia Bay Living, we help create homes that restore, reflect, and make room for what matters most

Beyond the Sunset

Sometimes the most beautiful moments aren't the ones we set out to find.

I had stopped to photograph the colours unfolding over the ocean, completely captivated by the sunset before me.

But as I turned to leave, I was met with something entirely unexpected.

The sky behind me had become just as extraordinary.

Soft blues, gentle creams and sweeping clouds stretched across the horizon, quietly reminding me that beauty often surrounds us—we simply need to take the time to notice it.

It's a gentle reminder that perspective changes everything. Sometimes we become so focused on what is holding our attention that we miss the beauty quietly unfolding around us.

As I look back through these photographs, I'm reminded of how I felt when I turned and saw this softer beauty...

Stillness.

Fullness.

Light.

Peace.

A quiet reminder for myself to look beyond the obvious, to take notice, and to be present.

Sometimes the biggest difference begins with just one space.

Not every home needs a complete reset.

Sometimes it's the pantry that's become overwhelming. The wardrobe that no longer functions. The home office that's collecting everything except productivity. Or the spare room that's quietly become a place for everything that doesn't belong anywhere else.

Our Mini Space Reset is designed for one area that's ready to work better.

Together we'll thoughtfully organise, improve function, refine the layout where needed, and create practical systems that better support everyday life.

Because thoughtful design isn't always about changing everything.

Sometimes it's about restoring one space so it better supports the life being lived within it.

Some days the work happens inside people's homes.

Other days it happens quietly behind a laptop.

Over the last week, there have been many days spent behind the laptop—editing pages and building the Banksia Bay Living portfolio.

The finished result is only part of the story.

These Project Journals are an opportunity to share a little more about our approach—how thoughtful planning, careful problem-solving, and intentional design come together to create homes that better support the people who live there.

While every project is unique, these journals offer a glimpse into the thought, care, and design process that shapes the work we do.

These behind-the-scenes moments might not be the most glamorous part of running a business, but they're an important part of sharing what we do and why we do it.

Slowly, one project at a time, the Banksia Bay Living Project Journal collection is growing.

When a room functions well, it feels calmer, more intuitive, and more restful for everyone who experiences it.

In this case, the biggest transformation came through making thoughtful decisions that allowed the space to better support the people who live within it.

The existing king-size bed dominated the room, restricting movement and making the space feel smaller and less balanced than it really was.

By choosing furniture that better suited the proportions of the room, repositioning the layout, and removing unnecessary visual weight, the bedroom became easier to move through, more restful to be in, and better able to support everyday life.

The final slide illustrates the thinking behind the layout—because thoughtful design is about more than how a space looks. It's about how a space functions, how it feels, and how well it supports the people living within it.

Because at Banksia Bay Living, every project begins with the people.

How will they move through the space?

How will they use it?

How can the environment better support the life being lived within it?

People first.
Space second.
Aesthetics third.

Designing homes that restore, reflect, and make room for what matters most.

Banksia Bay Living begins every project with understanding how a space needs to support the people who live in it.

So what does that actually look like?

Before we move furniture or suggest storage, we take the time to understand the life being lived within the space.

How is the space being used?
What is its purpose?
What's working well?
What's creating friction?
What does this home need to better support the people who live here?

Only then do we explore the combination of professional organising, space planning, and interior design that will best support the people, the home, and the life being lived within it.

Some projects need just one of these disciplines.

Others benefit from all three.

Because thoughtful design is about more than how a space looks.

It's about how it functions.
How it feels.
And how well it supports everyday life.

Every project is different.
Every home has its own story.

That's why every solution is tailored to the people, the home, and what matters most to them.

People first.
Space second.
Aesthetics third.

Because real life is the design brief.

Every home has a story.

Every family is different.

Every season of life asks something different of the spaces we live in.

That's why I believe every journey begins with a simple conversation.

'Tell me about your home'.

From there, we work together to understand what's working, what's creating friction, and what will best support the life being lived within your home.

I've recently simplified the way we work together to make that journey clearer—from our first Discovery Call through to the pathway and level of support that best supports you, your home, and the life being lived within it.

Because creating spaces that restore, reflect, and make room for what matters most...

always begins with understanding the people who live within them.

🤍

If you're wondering where to begin, I'd love to hear about your home.
