Check out the matcha chawans I created in the studio. Exorcising the concept of Wabi Sabi (perfection in imperfection) & Japanese techniques of kurinuki (meaning to carve or to hollow) and firing techniques of Raku. Like much of the work from my studio I draw much inspiration from using fire as a constructive & protective element.

The clay and wood flakes are all Australian with the Raku clay having been dug from Dja Dja Wurrung (central Victoria on the map), Kurinuki was undertaken Woi Wurrung (north side of Melbourne) and the Raku was practiced in Wadawurrung (Geelong)

Hopefully soon to be made available online.
