It was Dad service of Thanksgiving yesterday.
Here are some of the photos included in his Photo Tribute and also some that didn’t make the cut.

It was really lovely to see so many familiar faces, especially from the Church Army days in Belrose.

So many fun stories to go with these photos.

Shall post the link to watch h yesterdays service in the comments, for anyone who missed it and would have like to see.

Treasures found during packing my Mum to move house.

Mum used to make pottery, this lovely vase is definitely one to become an heirloom, I love the colour.

We also found my Dad’s portfolio with so many lovely ink drawings, along with posters for social dancers in the early 1960’s.

Both creative but something that time constraints of work and family stopped. My brother and I were incredibly lucky to be encouraged to follow our creativity into a career.

Home from two amazing months visiting the girls, meeting Amelia, catching up with friends and doing a little retail therapy.
Two highlights were visiting the in Amsterdam where this lovely tray came from ( look for it on our roof garden ) and two more green glaze plates Grays Antiques. Possibly the oldest in my collection!
Plus textured plate designed to make pan con tomate ( Spanish tomato on bread)

Can not wait to have my collection all unpacked and reunited ( left so much in storage before we went to Birmingham) when we move into our new house.

One of my most enjoyable days is being able to feed somebody’s freezer. We all can do with a few meals that takes out the what should we cook for dinner.

Yesterday has set up Gen and Gethan for a good few months, and now all they need to do is one bulk cook recipe fortnight and it will keep their freezer continually fed with lots of different options, so they never get bored.

I made:
Cottage Pie
Pulled pork for burritos
Pork chilli with beans & corn plus extra sauce that could be added to rice or potatoes.
Chicken, Mushroom and leek - can be a pie filling or a pasta bake, add something fresh fresh spinach and corn to fill it out.
Pork and beef meatballs in a veg heavy tomato sauce
Bolognaise
Lasagna
Chicken Rice - this is a new recipe and I hope it’s a winner. I slow roasted chicken and onions and then diced and blanched a selection of veg. Designed to be sat on top of rice while cooking, adding something fresh soy or other Asian style sauce.

Plus several jars of my All the Veg Sauce - heat sealed in a jar not frozen.

Gen had already made bulk Thai curry and had some packets of beef & pork ragu from my last visit still in the freezer.

While I already knew the cost of food in the UK is too cheep ( thinking about how much the farmer gets), I was totally surprised at the checkout.
I used spices from the pantry.
We bought nothing ready made or hyper processed apart from some stock cubes and gravy granules.

I think the best freezer meals are ones that are comfort food or “Mum meals”

What other recipes are great to freeze?

Miss Amelia Shepherd your Grannie Smith 🍏 finished your quilt.

I hope it travels with you on the most amazing adventures. That you snuggle under it to watch old movies with your Mum and cover your head with it when your Dad tells jokes.
But mostly I hope it covers your bed when you hang out with the best girlfriends a girl can have - just like my amazing friend Katharine who made the one your Mum has.
