What makes a restaurant memorable to you — the food, the interior, or the little details you discover once you’re inside?
For NAVA Thai Boat Noodle — Box Hill, I wanted the artwork to feel like it genuinely belonged to the space — not something added afterwards.
Inspired by the visual language and story of traditional Thai boat noodles, the artwork brings together hand-painted illustration, typography and cultural details across the restaurant, working alongside the deep timber, blue tiles and warm lighting of the interior.
One of my favourite things about creating artwork for hospitality spaces is seeing how a painting changes once the restaurant comes alive. It becomes a backdrop for dinners, conversations, celebrations and all those everyday moments that happen around food.
And that’s when a mural stops being just a mural —
it becomes part of the place.
