At Kilmuir House, the outdoor space is shaped around connection, light, and everyday living. Framed by clean white forms and softened by natural textures, the courtyard opens up to a calm, private retreat where indoors and outdoors flow effortlessly.

Large openings invite natural light deep into the living spaces, while the pool, stone paving, and built-in seating create moments to pause, gather, and unwind. Every element feels intentional, from the placement of greenery to the way each zone connects visually and physically.

It’s a space designed for slow mornings, long afternoons, and easy transitions between inside and out, grounded in warmth and simplicity.

A facade that honours the past while quietly introducing what’s new.

Kilmuir House retains the charm of its original Edwardian frontage, where decorative timber detailing, soft white weatherboards, and a restored veranda create a familiar and welcoming street presence. The intricate gable detailing and heritage proportions have been carefully preserved, maintaining a strong connection to the surrounding streetscape in Malvern East.

Behind, a subtle contemporary extension begins to reveal itself through layered rooflines and clean forms, allowing old and new to coexist without overpowering one another. The transition is intentional, respectful, and quietly confident.

A home defined by restraint, horizontality, and a quiet connection to landscape.

Set within the leafy setting of Lower Plenty, this residence stretches gently across the sloping site, its long rooflines and deep eaves grounding the form while allowing the surrounding canopy of mature eucalypts to remain visually dominant. Strong horizontal lines guide the composition, softened through a balanced material palette of pale brickwork, vertical cladding, and dark metal roof edges.

Large openings draw natural light deep into the living spaces, framing views of the surrounding greenery and establishing a continuous dialogue between interior and landscape. Timber decks extend the living areas outward, allowing daily life to move seamlessly between inside and outside.

The material palette remains calm and tactile. Pale timber flooring introduces warmth, while light oak joinery provides a sense of quiet permanence throughout the home. Stone surfaces anchor key spaces, particularly within the kitchen where the island reads as a monolithic form balancing practicality with sculptural presence.
