Day 1 in Colombo at Cinnamon Life; a great selection of continental, South East Asian and of course Sri Lankan dishes. I tried all the traditional food items, it was a great mix of spicy, sweet and sour dishes. The sambal varieties were unlike anything I had seen before. Of course, it was all delicious!

- a beautiful town with a lot of history. And the pottery in Avanos is out of this world. It has to be, considering they have been doing it for over 2000 years. Then there are cute cafes all over town. Our favourite was cafe, hidden away behind a flight of colourful signs and steps. The beautiful lady who runs this cafe soon got chatting and we discovered we have so many common interests! I hope she visits us in Melbourne some day! Thank you for the good time and beautiful coffee!

Baklavas: are they Turkish or Greek? Well, turns out there are differences. The Greek version use a honey syrup and the Turkish version a simple sugar syrup flavoured as needed. Either way, it’s a treat and there are so many variations you cannot possibly get through them all!
