HELLO APRIL!!

I may be entering the year a little later than planned, but I am doing it with purpose.

I needed a workspace that could give me the room to take Carol Makes in Melbourne handmade lines to a bigger and better place… cue handy husband entering the chat.

Brad built this beauty using two IKEA Kallax units, a solid wood base, castors for easy moving, and finished it with the most stunning acacia timber top.

What started as flat packs is now a custom, moveable cutting and creating station and I am completely obsessed.

If you could design your dream creative space, or have already what is one thing you would have to include?

Calling all crafters, sewists and creative treasure hunters.

Next Saturday I will be part of a fantastic Destash Day in Bacchus Marsh and I am bringing along a big clear out from my personal stash. If you enjoy quilting, Cricut projects or cross stitch, there will be plenty to browse through.

I will also have a selection of handmade items from carol makes in melbourne available on the day.

The best part is that I will not be the only one destashing. Lots of other makers will be there with fabric, yarn, craft supplies and handmade pieces, so there will be tables full of creative bargains waiting to be discovered.

If you love the thrill of finding that perfect fabric or supply for your next project, this is the place to be.

Saturday 14 March
10am to 2pm

Size does matter apparently.
Tiny squares with big quilt energy 💙

Two rows left and she’s off to the long armer.

Starting the year off strong. New collection fabric sneaks coming soon but for now I’m sewing for me!

Is this genius… or am I about to regret everything 😅✂️

Trying gridded interfacing for 2 inch squares today.

Have you used it?
Love it or leave it?
Any tips or thoughts?

🤍 Meet the 2026 Colour of the Year from : Cloud Dancer Pantone 11 4201

A soft and balanced white that brings calm clarity and a sense of gentle quiet to everything it touches. At Carol Makes in Melbourne we will be releasing a select number of handmade products that feature Cloud Dancer and celebrate its simple natural beauty.

Pantone has always spoken to me. Colour organisation has been part of my personality for as long as I can remember. I used to line up my Derwents in perfect colour order sort my beads into colour families and even arrange my wardrobe by colour. It is not only aesthetically pleasing but also feels grounding.

If you could make something in Cloud Dancer what would it be?

I keep picking up this festive robin cushion kit and thinking… maybe it is time I try appliqué.

This lovely kit is designed by Alice Caroline and comes with everything you need to make the cushion cover in the first picture (byo cushion!).

The Liberty Tana Lawn makes it feel really special.

🪡 If you have any applique tips, please send them my way.

And if you want a fun Christmas project for yourself, this one is too pretty to miss.
