Hi everyone! 😊
Today I’m sharing my homemade butter chicken recipe. It’s rich, creamy, and full of flavour, and I made it using simple ingredients I already had at home.
I even substituted yogurt with sour cream, and it still turned out amazing! This recipe is very flexible, so you can adjust the spice level to suit your taste.
Perfect to enjoy with hot rice or naan. Give it a try and let me know how it turns out!

500g chicken (cut into small pieces)
2 tbsp plain yogurt (full-fat is best)or Sour cream
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp paprika
¼–½ tsp chilli powder (adjust for kids)
1 tsp garlic (minced)
1 tsp ginger (minced) I used ginger powder
Salt to taste
Mix everything well with the chicken
Massage it in (this helps flavour go inside)
Let it marinate:
Minimum: 15 minutes
Best: 2–4 hours (or overnight if you have time)

Sauce
More than 2 tbsp butter
1 small onion (finely chopped)
2 cloves garlic (minced)
1 tsp ginger (minced)
2 tomatoes (blended or chopped)
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp garam masala
½ tsp cumin powder
½ tsp coriander powder
½ cup cream (or evaporated milk)
Salt to taste
When cooking the chicken, there will be some water left—don’t throw it away. Strain it and use it for the gravy.
