Gradient backgrounds can be a bit tricky… They need to be done all in one go before they dry. And, once they are dry they cannot be altered in only one section; they need to be fully redone!

I got it right the first time though luckily as in the past perfectionism has made me do the background three times.

This one isn’t perfect, but it will do and imperfections won't be noticeable with the foreground on top.

The start of winter has been very wintery here in the lower south east. Lots of wind, rain and clouds. I think I do get the winter blues a bit.

This is why I painted a clear blue sky with Wedge Tailed Eagles and other small birds flying underneath. To hold on to that sunny day feeling over winter.

Flying birds can also give us a sense of freedom and a mindful moment when we stop to watch the majestic eagle circle around.

I was in my backyard trying to think of what to paint next and I looked up in the blue sky to see a beautiful wedge tailed eagle gliding around.

Simple and neatly painted is calming I think. See this one finished soon 🙂🎨

Do you get bored with where you live sometimes? I thought back to a day when I was feeling a bit bored of my rural location.

I decided the best part about living in a country area is being surrounded by nature which I had possibly been taking for granted.

So I chose to focus on the positive and nurture a greater appreciation for nature.
I took more notice of the sky, clouds and sunsets.

I started walking more and noted the different trees, birds flying, butterflies and farm animals.

I started feeling calmer and happier.

So whenever I have the chance, I go outside in the sunshine and walk or sit and appreciate nature- usually at lunchtime or to play with the kids.

Nature appreciation can also include watching documentaries, nature art on your wall or a simple indoor plant.

Congratulations to the South East art society, Riddoch art gallery and artists for putting together such a beautiful group exhibition currently on display in Mount Gambier SA. Closes June 8.

A great opportunity for anyone wanting original art with such variety at various prices.

Do you like Wedge Tailed Eagles?
A blue sky with simply painted wedge tailed eagles and other birds flying around is my current painting.

It’s a small artwork (A4) and simple but sometimes that’s all we need. 🙂
