Unlike Herringbone, the Chevron pattern is a continuous 'V' shape. Each individual piece is cut on an angle creating a 'speeding bus' shape, otherwise known as a parallelogram.

As Oslek, you start with a blank canvas that is the board itself. We then customise it to your specifications - whether that be colour or texture.

Herringbone Flooring - A timeless parquetry pattern created through tessalating rectangular blocks, laid at a 45 degree angle.

Fun fact: the length of a herringbone piece needs to be an exact multiple of the width in order for the pattern to work. For example, the length of our pieces are exactly 5x the width.

Board width plays a significant part in how your final space looks and feels. The wider the board, the fewer lines, resulting in a greater sense of space. On the contrary, narrower boards mean more joins, creating a cosy, vintage feel.

This image is from a beautiful home in Deepdene where our Versailles panels were installed raw on a 90 degree angle (i.e. straight) and later finished onsite. Although Euorpean in design, this round window and natural oak tones made this room feel like a Japandi styled spaceship! 🌚

Versailles Panels - A King’s floor 👑 These floors are the epitome of grandeur and luxury. A panel made up of 27 individual oak pieces to create an intricate parquetry pattern.

Due to its varying grain direction, each piece has to be hand stained individually to ensure consistent and deep colouring.

This floor is for those projects needing a little luxury 😉

The perfect colour match.

The concept of colour matching may seem simple. Perhaps some may think there is a standardised pot of oil that will create colours such this 'Champagne'. In reality, Craig looks at the master sample to determine its undertones and then, its trial and error until he gets it right.

A bit of white, yellow, red and sometimes, even violet... to create seemingly 'simple' colours.

Our beloved Wormy Chestnut - only 17sqm of plank and 20sqm of herringbone left 🥲

We reclaimed these logs a couple years ago from Gippsland and they have been featured in many of your projects, including Country Road and numerous Passive Houses.

If you have a small area or a little project where this beautiful Australian hardwood can be given a home, please let us know! The tiny bit remaining is too good to go to waste.

A custom stained floor for the new Viktoria & Woods store in Doncaster 😍 As with all the other V&W stores we have supplied, we use a 220mm wide European Oak board with a hefty 6mm wear layer. This enables additional sands for longevity of the floors.
