A Wednesday at Roe-Yi 🌿

A lovely Wednesday in the studio, surrounded by colour, creativity and little moments of happiness.

Today I spent some time preparing our embroidery materials. Seeing all these beautiful colours together always makes me happy choosing and combining colours is one of my favourite parts of creating.

I also enjoyed a little quiet time working with my tambour hook, one of the techniques I really love.

A customer stopped by and shared that a handmade hat she bought from Roe-Yi was sent to her sister in England and she absolutely loved it. It was so lovely to hear.

And we even had a very special furry visitor pop in to say hello! 🐾

Just a simple, beautiful Wednesday at Roe-Yi.
Hope this lovely sunshine stays with us a little longer.

A Beautiful Saturday Morning, One Stitch at a Time. 🌿

A lovely Saturday morning spent together, enjoying the quiet beauty of Chinese silk embroidery.

With every stitch, we explore something new learning to follow the direction of the silk threads, discovering gentle movements, and watching each little detail slowly come to life.

A little patience, a little practice, and the simple joy of making something beautiful by hand.

You may have noticed the For Sale sign outside our little studio recently.

We’ve had a few lovely people asking whether Roe-Yi is moving or closing, so I just wanted to share a little reassurance.

Roe-Yi is still here, and everything continues as usual.

Our doors are still open, our classes and workshops are continuing, and this little space is still filled with stitching, making, learning, coffee, conversation, and all the quiet moments that make Roe-Yi what it is.

For now, nothing changes.

We’ll continue to welcome you here, one stitch and one beautiful project at a time.

A little evening of my own. 🌙

A little shimmer has arrived at Roe-Yi Studio… ✨

Just look at these beautiful colours.

What I love most about these new metallic embroidery threads is the way they change with the light sometimes bright and sparkling, sometimes soft and subtle.

Every little movement reveals a slightly different colour, a different glow, a different detail.

Sometimes beautiful materials don’t need to become anything straight away.

We can simply slow down, look a little closer, and enjoy them just as they are.

For now, I’m simply enjoying the colours and watching them catch the light.

A little glimpse of life at Roe-Yi lately.

It has been a little quieter on social media these past few days, but behind the scenes, there has been plenty happening.

I’ve been preparing new notes, refining our workshops, teaching, stitching, and slowly bringing new ideas together for the months ahead.

For me, making by hand has never been about rushing to finish.

It is about taking the time to learn, enjoying the process, and allowing something beautiful to slowly come together.

When we learn something new, we all begin somewhere.

The first stitch may not be perfect.
Our hands may feel unsure.
But slowly, with time and practice, we begin to find our own rhythm and confidence.

And perhaps that is one of the loveliest parts of making by hand having a little quiet time to ourselves, to focus, create, and simply enjoy the process.

We don’t need to be perfect.
We just need to begin, and give ourselves time to grow.

This is what Mindful Making means to me.
