My family has been unintentionally been finding the meaning behind eco printing. It has become a big part of our lifestyle. He has many talents, one of them creative writing. Here is a poem written about a piece of silk made into a lampshade. Printed with Eucalyptus Sticklandii.

This is a beautiful example of a bleeding eucalyptus print. I’ve been researching the variants in species leaf features. I’ve learned the midrib of a leaf is the primary vein, the side veins are the secondary veins. When these are the only veins apparent, veining links the side veins and forms a reticulum. Some species have quaternary veining and the reticulum is very fine. The leaves I’ve used with no visible reticulation, or sparse reticulation tend to bleed, while those with dense reticulation seem to contain pigment within the wall producing a definite print. Fascinating.
