" I liked the painting with the raven, because my late daughter loved them."
I was standing at the desk, ready to buy the charcoal painting that was part of the 2025 Community Art Awards Exhibition. Asked about why I have chosen this one, we started sharing. And with our choice of artworks, came the personal stories.
I will never get tired of repeating that art makes the home. It allows us to express who we are, tell our story and our personality.
I have connected with the 'The Quiet Weight of Memory', because it reminds me of the places and homes I have left behind. Of the many old homes in Bulgaria, the country I came from, that are long forgotten and abandoned. And yet, you still can see the signs of the lives lived there.
This is a story that can be seen everywhere around the world. The places that once have been home. And now are not. I see them as not 'things' but as 'beings', with a soul of their own. And I feel urge to save them. But I can't. So I focus on saving (aka making better) the ones that I can.
