I still haven’t unpacked and cleaned my gear from the weekend travel. Whoops. At least Scootie is happy with her suitcase bed.

🩵 Sydney Marathon 2026 💙

Time for a run/rollercoaster recap for my TCS Sydney Marathon presented by ASICS.

I was so grateful to get a starting bib with Women's Mental Health Australia when my ballot entry was not successful, and then we raised more than $5000 to support the development of mental health education, support programs and initiatives for the 1 in 2 women who experience mental health challenges throughout their lives.

We travelled across early to explore (read: too much walking and an early blister!) and meet most of the Sydney Marathon 2026 WHMA team before we ate all the carbs, until I could roll down the hotel hall.

On the morning of the run, the hoards of marathoners were herded towards North Sydney, up the biggest hill of the day to get to the start area, before everyone realised there was a definite shortage of loos, which is chaos for all those carbed up and caffeinated runners. The morning was cool, but not that cold and that should have rung an alarm bell for me about what was to come ☀️

After a very patient hour next to a very loud speaker in the corral with my new friend Angela from WHMA, we slowly headed towards the Harbour Bridge. And honestly, that was quite the sight to see. I wanted to absorb everything so I didn’t take too many photos of landmarks.

Running along Pyrmont Bridge reminded me of Tour de France with crowd vibes next level.

I was feeling strong through the Rocks where the most amazing choir was signing all the good songs and up through Pride Village for the first time. And then came the challenge of the long out and back to Centennial Park. I had to adapt my plans because of the heat after 24 km, and then at about 28 km my right foot decided it didn’t want to foot anymore. It was incredibly painful, and with the bone stress injuries to my legs during training, I was really conscious of doing some real harm and walked for a while to see if it would come good. It did not, but somehow with borrowed energy and vibes from the crowd and everyone online and messaging, but much to the detriment of my foot function today, I found another gear and picked things back up to finish the run.

She’s only gone and bloody done but what a bloody hilly, hot and rollercoaster of a day. Still not hotter than a PRF finish though.

Photo 3 is my Official Marathon Time Integrity Unit for verification. Please review and congratulate me accordingly and skip the rest and please give me a well earned beer and 2XU prize 🤣. Many thank yous to your service to the integrity of marathon times.

No PBs in sight, but completely understandable given the interrupted training block, and heat. Still stoked for a sub 6 finish.

Full recap once I’ve regained the ability to walk.
