There is nothing better than being able to arrive to your new home and have the lounge already set up for relaxation and maybe a cheeky Netflix episode or two 🍿

This couch from Amart Furniture is a favourite of mine. It’s got a unique, modern feel, while still being comfortable and family friendly.

You can have a beautifully decorated home and still not feel settled. That’s because decorating and nesting are NOT the same thing🏡

Decorating is choosing a couch, deciding what to put on your shelves, finding the perfect rug and convincing yourself you definitely need another candle.

Nesting is beyond the aesthetics. It comes with all the emotions and energy of moving to a new place and figuring out where to put it all.

I like to think of nesting as connecting the self to the space. How can I support my identity and my nervous system through what I choose to have in my new home?

Simply put:

Decorating is aesthetics.
Nesting is building a life.

One is about making a space look beautiful.
The other is about making it feel like home in a completely new country where you still accidentally convert every price back into your old currency📍🇦🇺

And honestly? They have to work together to create the perfect home.

Because there’s something special about creating comfort from scratch, creatively and spiritually. Every small, intentional step of connecting the self to your environment helps you feel more grounded, more familiar and more at home.

So instead of unpacking boxes, we’ll build routines, find your favourite nooks and slowly turn an unfamiliar place into your home 🧡

One thing I’ve come to appreciate through this work is that the smallest details are often the ones that make a home feel the most supportive.

Fresh flowers. A soft lamp at night. A place to put your water down beside your bed. Somewhere easy to charge your phone before sleep.

These things seem simple, but they shape the way a space supports you in everyday life.
