Rolling back to 2023 - when Colour Clad was just an idea 💡

In fact, the idea came years before that, it just took us 7 years to do something about it !

We enrolled in the CERI concept to creation, Masterclass, an incredibly well-run and informative program we would recommend to anyone and any stage of a start-up.

In a room full of deep tech and world-changing ideas, we were a little out of our depth with our fencing product. But we kept at it and ended up as one of 5 finalists to present on the final night. We didn’t win, obviously, but we did learn a fence load about the start up journey and bringing an idea to market.

Fast forward 3 years and we are getting ready to receive the final version ready for our launch !

Update !!!

The coating swatches and colour samples are in! We’ve been back and forth on these trying to get the texture and colour right. We’re thrilled with the final result and have given the go ahead for these to be applied to the panels before they are sent over for the final test !

WHEN ARE YOU LAUNCHING ?

We have had a lot of questions about the launch date and we really appreciate all the interest and apologise for the delay. The truth is, we pressed pause to make Colour Clad better !

When aluminium prices climbed, we chose not to rush the launch. Instead, we redesigned the system, relocated production and reduced metal use by over 30%.

We are now in the final testing stage, with pre-orders opening soon.

The old way of covering a metal fence. (And why we changed it).

Before Colour Clad, upgrading a metal fence meant doing things the hard way.

At this Gairloch Street project, and used the traditional method to cover a colorbond fence: digging footings, cementing a permanent frame into the ground, applying architectural cladding, and then finishing it off with paint.

It looks great, but the reality? It takes a lot of time, requires trades, and the costs can add up fast. You also can’t do anything like this if you’re renting !

We knew there had to be a better way to get that premium architectural look without the permanent structures, the drilling, or the heavy price tag.

Before Colour Clad hits the market, we are doing the work that most businesses skip. We started by getting clear on exactly who we are building this for: homeowners who want to upgrade their outdoor space, and renters who need a solution that does not leave a mark. From there, we focused on building real buzz through behind the scenes content, sharing the process honestly and letting people become part of the story as it unfolds.

We also made a deliberate decision to grow our email waitlist over our social following. Social media followers are rented. Your email list is owned. Every person who signs up at colourclad.com.au is someone who has put their hand up and said they want to hear from us first.

By the time we launch, we will not be starting from zero. We will have an audience, a waitlist, and a community that is already invested.
