To our loyal followers, it’s Rachel here, founder of Just Cats. I’m reaching out to you and I’m a little nervous to honest. I need your urgent help. Tonight, together we can do something magical. It’s super important we join together and chip in to get this done and make it a reality. I’ve aways prioritised the kitties and cats, they are our No 1 and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
So here goes…. We are excited to announce that we’re expanding … That is right we are creating a Cat Management Facility on the North West Coast of Tasmania… We have been working on this project for years now and the time has come where together, we must raise the funds to make it happen. Lives are at stake and we need to act.

I’m writing to you with that nervous feeling. You know when you embark on something that is game changing but also trepidation with the fear that you may still fall short at the final hurdle. It’s our biggest project ever. We must do this for the cats and kitten that need us more than ever. It’s our duty. Our responsibility.
I was put on this earth to help kitties and cats in their time of need and to be honest we just have to expand. It’s been overwhelming for me and our team.
Over the last year, we’ve taken in double the average number of cats from the North West Coast. There just hasn’t been a Cat Management Facility since last February so we’ve had to answer the calls for help. 250 cats have arrived at our door step just in the last 6 months from this area which in turn has put loads of strain on our resources here in Launceston to accommodate the extra need.
The North West Coast is a very large area and after loads of research we have chosen to set up the shelter in Burnie - this is so more people in remote areas can access our help. It is very exciting but stressful. We have no choice.
Every year for the past 4 years, we’ve been disappointed that the government has not allocated any funds in the budgets for the project so we’ve just met and decided that we need to do it ourselves. We can’t wait any longer. We just can’t.
Rest assured we are still putting our submissions in to obtain funding but we will need to take this into our own hands tonight and ask you, our amazing followers to chip in to get us over the line. We have secured the location and we hope to open in just a few months to accommodate adoptions and a retail section, a surrender facility for emergency intakes. We need your help to get this project under way. We have the know-how. We know what needs to be done. We just need the funds.
We’ve been established for 13 years this year, we have proven that we can successfully run a cat shelter, help cats in need and save as many lives as we possibly can and now we intend to have even more of an impact! We want to be there for the community on the North West Coast, we want to save lives and give hope to the less fortunate cats in this community.
We desperately need to raise $50,000 to achieve this and set up a safe environment to hold cats in need, a small hospital to treat cats who are unwell and help us set up the space needed to educate the community on responsible cat ownership.
