Solid bones with zero flow. It’s a common issue with older homes, and it’s exactly what we have been unravelling in our Wahroonga project. We are currently deep in the Design Development stage for these alterations and additions. The early concepts have taken shape, and we been carefully testing the building form, proportions and materiality for this bushfire prone house. The existing brickwork offers a beautiful, heavy grounding, which contrasts with new expansive gable openings, to better connect with the surrounding bushland and garden.

Behind Elo Architecture are three mums balancing architecture, business, health, family life, school drop-offs, sport, deadlines, and everything in between.

Designing homes for families feels specially meaningful because we understand how important this everyday moments at home really are.

The kind of space that makes you look forward to colder days.

Soft light. Fireplace on. Landscape beyond.

Our Galston project designed for year-round connection to the outdoors, even as the temperature starts to drop.

Our design process doesn’t start at the desk. It starts on-site, observing the nuances of the surrounding environment.
We believe that for architecture to truly stand the test of time, it must work in partnership with its environment. This involves respecting the honest logic of the slope, capturing the daily rhythms of the sun, and prioritising outlooks that reconnect us with the landscape.
It’s about more than just a beautiful home; it’s about an honest, grounded connection to the land we call home.

Two walls. That's it. Sometimes the biggest transformations come from the smallest interventions. Watch how a small change can completely reimagine how this family experiences home life. Architecture isn't always about grand gestures; it's about understanding how you live and enhancing what matters most.

At this time of year, we always pause to reflect on International Women's Day and evaluate our values as a female-led studio.

Whether it's our incredible team, our clients, or the talented collaborators, we're committed to fostering an environment of respect, growth, and genuine connection.
