The Darwin Art Fair has wrapped, and I'm still processing it all. 🌿

8 of 9 pieces found new homes - travelling to international collectors and buyers from right across Australia. In the hub of Indigenous art, surrounded by 80+ art centres, my work was welcomed in a way I honestly didn't expect.

To everyone who took a piece home from the Darwin Art Fair - I hope you absolutely love it.

The gallery has already invited me back next year, and this time I'll be there in person. I cannot wait.

I went viral. And not everyone was kind. 📱

528 likes. New followers. And a wave of comments that reminded me - and a lot of other women - that visibility comes with a cost when you’re a First Nations woman speaking your truth online.

They came for my art. My culture. And things that had nothing to do with what I was sharing.

But here’s what else happened: my community showed up. The art community, my colleagues, my family, my friends - the messages were overwhelming. ❤️

I know I’m not alone in this. And neither are you.

Shrinking is not the answer. Keep taking up space. Keep showing up. You are enough. ✨

We had a lovely day for the opening of ‘Yalbilum Goorniin – Journeys Across Country’ on Saturday. Thank you to everyone who joined us- especially to those who travelled a long way! It is always a joy having Aimee in the gallery and hearing her speak about her creative practice.

Aimee also ran a fully-booked painting workshop in the morning before her opening. Participants each got the opportunity to hear Aimee speak, with insights into Aboriginal art and culture, and the meanings behind the symbols she uses in her work, as well as create their own unique painting to take home.

It is such a delight to see the gallery full of Aimee's vibrant artworks. This collection of artwork is on show until Saturday 26th August, so we encourage you to pop in and view them in person.

My second solo exhibition ‘Yalbilum Goorniin – Journeys Across Country’.

My work. My stories. My culture - on every wall.

Believing in myself hasn’t always been easy. There have been late nights, doubts, and moments I almost walked away. But I didn’t. This room is proof of what happens when you keep going.

I know I’m not alone in dreaming about a room full of your own work.

This weekend, that dream becomes real.

I’m so proud to be opening my first solo exhibition, Yalbilum Goorniin - Journeys Across Country, at Baluk Arts in Mount Eliza.

This body of work is about movement across Country, connection to place, and the stories carried through landscapes, generations and culture. It reflects the journeys we take, both physical and spiritual, and the relationships that continue to shape who we are.

Being personally invited by Baluk Arts for this exhibition is such a meaningful milestone, and I’m so excited to share this collection with you.

Opening celebrations are on Saturday 22 August from 2pm, with an artist talk at 2:45pm.

This is what it looks like when culture rises. 20 metres of Boonwurrung strength, story, and identity - right in the heart of South Melbourne.

Most people don't see this side of what I do.

This Winter I did my third art workshop at East Sale Community Hub - open to partners, children, and families of serving members. Watching someone discover art for the first time, or reconnect with creativity they'd forgotten they had... that's everything.

Culture is living. Culture is powerful. And it belongs in every community. ✨
