Miles and I have just called it a night after another big evening of prepping for camp tomorrow!

We're off to one of our absolute favourite homeschool camps of the year, Halls Gap!

To our regular Mischief Crew, we're going to miss seeing you all this week! But to those of you heading to camp too, YAY! We can't wait to catch up and have loads of fun together.

We've been busy getting a few fun things ready to bring along, including fairy floss, jewellery making, pop-out farm animals to build and decorate, and hopefully some make-your-own memory games (if I can squeeze in just a little more lasering first thing in the morning!).

The laser has certainly been earning its keep this week!

As usual, we've probably packed far too much, have a million ideas and not nearly enough hours in the day. But that's all part of the Mischief Makers fun!

Can't wait for another wonderful week of catching up with old friends, making new ones and creating plenty of mischief along the way.

See you at Halls Gap! Poor Jasper is staying behind with family and friends to look after all our new plants in the hot houses and to do exams. So we will just have to have lots of fun for him, I say! hee hee

Made a quick reel so you can towards the end, the kids actually did it!!!! By the end of the afternoon, there was success and a marble managed to find its way for the full length of the giant outdoor tunnel space with lots of design constraints they had to meet along the way! Not a bad effort at all!!!

It was such a magical day watching all ages working together, learning that it is not always easy to design something so big with all different ages, gently guiding along the way in relation to project management, delegation, supervision and so much more. There were a few hiccups, marbles kept being eaten by the creations never to be seen again and so much more.... but they got there. We really needed days but a great effort for an afternoon of fun!!!! We are so going to have to do a lot more challenges like these. It was worth all the effort cleaning the space up!

Evening all! A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our Giant Marble Run Holiday Program - it was brilliant!!

New friendships were forged, project management skills were seriously tested, communication was put to work, and there was a whole lot of problem-solving going on from start to finish.

One of my favourite things about the day was watching all the different ages working together. We had team captains delegating different sections of the run, little groups heading off to build their part, and then the very big challenge of somehow trying to join everything together at the end!

There were definitely moments where we all looked at it and thought… hmmmm, are we actually going to pull this off?! But they did!

Both teams managed to get their marbles basically all the way through their giant creations, with Miles’ team taking out the comp for the day with a successful run RIGHT TO THE END! Wahoooooooo!!!

And it certainly wasn’t just a matter of making a tube and rolling a marble down it.

They had all sorts of challenges to work into their designs needing a funnel, a drop, bends and corners, an open-tube section, different materials, suspended sections and plenty of gravity problems to solve along the way.

There was so much trial and error. Things that looked brilliant in theory didn’t always work once the marble hit them, so sections needed raising, lowering, reinforcing, rebuilding and sometimes completely rethinking.

Several marbles were definitely lost along the way too 🤣 and it was such a delight hearing the kids squeal, run and cheer as the marble made it through different sections. Then would come the total quiet, with everyone stopping to listen carefully to see if they could hear the marble still moving through the run… followed by the next challenge — working out where on earth it had got stuck!

And THAT was the best part, then watching kids, teens and adults problem-solve together, share ideas, communicate, hand jobs around, test things, have them fail, laugh, change them and try again.

The weather was absolutely perfect too being warm and sunny, but with plenty of shady little spots around the tunnels to escape into when needed.

The kids well and truly rose to the challenge and created something pretty amazing out of cardboard, tubes, string, boxes, tape and a whole lot of imagination. The nursery was definitely raided for supplies as well.

Such a fun day. Well done, everyone, you absolutely smashed it! It was so lovely to meet all the newbies too. Hope to see you all soon again.

I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who came along to our recent Mosaic Holiday Workshop. We had so much fun!

It was also our first properly warm day in the tunnels since last year and things definitely started getting a little toasty. We survived, but I think for our next lot of events we may be starting to move into our air-conditioned room, as soon as it is finished being installed, or possibly shift some sessions a little later in the day.

We had all ages joining in and I have to say, some of the little ones certainly gave the teens a run for their money! The creativity was brilliant.

As always, things changed along the way. A few of the kids decided their wooden borders absolutely needed painting too. Not part of the original plan, but who am I to stand in the way of creativity?! I love nothing more than seeing everyone put their own spin on things.

Lessons were definitely learnt too. We had sealed the timber beforehand to help stop it warping when the grout went on, which worked beautifully... but apparently when everyone suddenly decides they also want to paint their creations, we may need to investigate a slightly different sealer next time to make them easier to paint as well. (Huge thank you to Tanika for helping with the prep work for this event!!! - hours of gluing and sealing the pieces)

And a HUGE thank you to Mum, who was our super helper in the background, helping set up and then quietly wiping down the possibly slightly chaotic workstations, especially once the grout came out. Thanks Mum!!!

There were lots of giggles, plenty of mess, and some seriously brilliant creations.

The finished pieces really speak for themselves. Super happy kids and teens - This is why I love what we do! Thanks for coming along!!!

Sorry for the delay in updates! We have been absolutely hectic with the holiday program, but we have had SO much fun!!!!!!! 💛

Over the coming days I’ll pop up a few photos from our epic days and some of the wonderful things everyone created.

A little from our Beading & Jewellery Making workshop…

Apologies for the lack of photos of everyone’s finished creations. We were honestly just far too busy creating to remember to take them! 😂

It was such a great session and the kids were SOOOOO creative. There were necklaces, earrings, charms, beads and tiny creations going in every direction.

I can safely say I never expected to be laser cutting teeny tiny bunny ears for a little baby doll during a jewellery workshop… but somehow it all came together and looked SO good. 😂🐰

Absolutely loved seeing everyone take the supplies and turn them into something completely their own. We even managed to decorate a few little gift boxes to take them home in.

Well done everyone and it was so lovely having you are our new HQ.

I am so excited for tomorrow… We have not only our mosaic workshop but also our epic marble run session!!! Remember if you are booking in for the mosaic session, be quick, as I am picking up the last of the resources today and lasering everyone's requested animal or shape they want to mosaic onto! And as for the marble run, start getting those minds busy thinking of ideas - this is not going to be some simple, tiny marble run - we are talking across 3 giant outdoor tunnels, slopes, challenge rules, the works. We have loads of cardboard, some tubing, paint, string, lots of tape, and all sorts of odd things. So if you have tubing, string or rope you want to bring, scraps, decorations whatever - there are going to be all sorts of bonus point categories. The more we have the better.
