Living Art by Eco Mini Gardens

Living Art by Eco Mini Gardens Bringing nature into your everyday life — one tiny ecosystem at a time. I create unique, handcrafted terrariums designed to thrive with minimal fuss.

Inspired by nature. Built sustainably. Grown with care. 🌱 Living ART – ECO mini Gardens are living works of art that create their own mini ecosystem within an enclosed glass jar. Where possible I try to use only recycled and natural materials in the construction of the miniature gardens. Living ART – ECO mini Gardens are all unique works of art and are so simple to care for. They only need a light spray of water once a fortnight or so. The careful construction of the gardens means they are well drained and keep themselves clean so all you have to do is admire them. Living ART – ECO mini Gardens make superb gifts for friends and family. Most of the gardens are best kept indoors and look stunning in living areas, kitchens, bathrooms and even bedrooms. They are also great additions to workplaces; on office desks or in reception areas. Living ART – ECO mini Gardens range in price from $20 to $40 and are also available with lights for an extra $5. They are available for purchase and pick up from Sippy Downs on the Sunshine Coast. They will also be available at markets from time to time so please like this page to stay in touch with any updates.

I made this large round terrarium for myself because I love carnivorous plants. Nepenthes, or pitcher plants, thrive in high humidity and are one of the few that do well in a terrarium. Inside are lots of different mosses and a few Fittonias. Because Nepenthes like a bit of air circulation, I’ve drilled some holes in the lid.

Although this one isn’t for sale, I can take orders for anyone interested in having a unique, handcrafted terrarium designed to suit your space and style. Each one is made with care and features its own little living ecosystem — a piece of nature you can enjoy indoors. 🌿🪴

The layers in a terrarium are what keep its little ecosystem thriving. 🌿

At the base, I’ve used lava rocks to hold excess moisture. On top of that sits a layer of damp sphagnum moss — it looks beautiful and helps regulate moisture, keeping the soil from getting too wet or too dry.

The soil mix includes coco peat, perlite (for drainage), charcoal (to keep things clean and fresh), and worm castings to provide nutrients for the plants.

To top it all off, I’ve added springtails — tiny beneficial insects that eat mould, fungus, and dead plant material, helping the ecosystem stay balanced and healthy. 🌱✨

I just love how Fittonias add that little splash of colour to a terrarium 💚 This mini ecosystem also has a String of Turtles tucked in — both plants thrive in humidity and make the perfect pair in this cute little jar.

✨ A little world in a glass ✨

One of the things I love most about terrariums is that they create their own mini ecosystem. Once they’re set up, everything inside works together — the plants, the soil, the moisture, even the air.

💧 Water circulates through condensation and evaporation.
🌱 Plants breathe and grow, creating oxygen.
🌿 The soil supports life below the surface too.

It’s a simple, beautiful reminder of how nature looks after itself when everything is in balance. And the best part? They’re low maintenance — just a little love and light.
