Nicola Moore is an Australian ceramics and mixed media artist who works out of her studio in Pasadena, California. Her work is a vibrant and eclectic creation of unique and functional works of art. She thrives on spontaneity, color, and the exciting evolution of experimental processes. Born in South Africa, and brought up in New Zealand and Australia, she completed a Bachelor of Design in Visual C

Sneaking a cup out of the kiln before our morning routine and I have to get the kids to school! ☕️🌈✨

One of my favorite things about working with luster is that you never fully know what’s waiting for you until the kiln opens. Luster is a special surface process that creates those metallic, rainbow, iridescent effects… all through layers of chemistry, application, atmosphere, and a whole lot of fire magic 🔥✨ Every tiny adjustment changes the result, which makes every piece completely one of a kind.

I also get asked a lot if these are commercial glazes and they’re not. I make my own glazes and have been developing my own process in this raku kiln over the last few years, slowly refining the surfaces, colors, and reactions through endless testing and experimentation.

This little beauty was too exciting not to peek at first thing this morning 😍

Looking forward to opening the kiln properly after school drop off because I cannot WAIT to see what else is hiding in there 👀✨🌈

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers, stepmothers, grandmothers, chosen mothers, and nurturers out there. 🌷🌷🌷

Whether it’s our relationship as a mother, or our relationship to our mother, this day tends to hold so much meaning and emotion… different for every person, but powerful all the same. There’s something so profound about those connections and the way they shape us throughout our lives. I truly believe the people we come into this life beside are part of our deepest learning and growth… for us, and for them too.

This Balance Bulb Sound Sculpture, titled ‘Rosey Resonance’ is part art, part grounding object, and part sensory experience. 🧘‍♀️

These sculptures were born from my thoughts around balance… balancing creativity, motherhood, work, friendships, family, marriage, health, rest, and all the moving parts of life. As a mum of three, life is always a balancing act in some way! 💕

After going through the fires last year, I found myself becoming very drawn to the idea of sensory consciousness and adding it into my work. I wanted to objects that gently pull you back into the moment not just through sight but also through touch, sound, weight, and interaction.

That’s when I started adding subtle sound elements into some of my pieces. These sculptures contain beads inside them, so when you hold them and move them, they create a gentle waterfall sound that feels calming and grounding. They’re designed to be experienced, not just looked at.

They also look beautiful simply sitting as sculptural objects on their own. ✨

There are currently two available on my website ✨

Wishing you all a calm and grounded Mother’s Day! 🌷🌷🌷

I felt like this magical little babe deserved some video recognition before I sent her off… I wish I could show you all these pieces in person! ✨

Still photos definitely don’t always do justice with these shiny pieces. Videos are better but the glaze changes so much in different lighting and reflects its environments. I love this about it and think adds depth to the piece!

There’s still some pieces available to check out from the latest release… Www.nicolamoorestudio.com 💕🎁🌈

Thank you thank you thank you! It was an amazing response to the collection release yesterday, and I’m super grateful.

My work is constantly evolving, and each time I have a release it’s always a new and eclectic mix. So, I love seeing what gets snapped up first. 🙏🏼🥰💕

It was a large restock, so there’s still treasures to look at if you missed it. I’ve left the whole release up for just now so you can view it all.

Mother’s Day is just around the corner! But there’s still time to snag something special for yourself or your mama…

This piece, ‘Tropical Wave’ Platter, is so pretty, and right now still up for grabs! 🌊🐠💙 www.nicolamoorestudio.com
