I'm super excited to finally share something I've been working on... my new Hazel & Fern Freebie Hub! 🌿🤎

I've wanted to create one place where parents and families can come, browse through the free resources I've created and simply download anything they'd love to use with their children.

The Hazel & Fern Freebie Hub is officially live! 🥹🌿

Over time I've created quite a few freebies, and they've ended up scattered across different posts, links and places. I didn't want families to have to hunt around trying to find them, or miss something simply because it was shared months ago.

So I've made them a little home of their own. 🤎

There are currently 6 free printable resources inside, including Fall activities, transportation placemats, Aussie animal dot markers, a kids planner, Unicorn & Fairies activity placemats and dinosaur learning pages.

There's no need to download everything. Have a browse, pick something your child might enjoy, and take whatever you'd genuinely like to use. 🌿

And this isn't a finished little collection either. I'll be adding and changing freebies from time to time, so you're always welcome to pop back and see what's new.

I really hope this makes it a little easier for families to find and enjoy the things I've created. 🤎

I made these Aussie sight word cards after noticing my daughter’s hands often covered the words on smaller cards.

These are intentionally bigger and simple, for little ones just beginning to recognise words—with a parent alongside them for a few relaxed moments of learning together. 💛

There’s something so special about hearing that something I’ve created has actually made its way into a family’s everyday play and learning.

I especially loved hearing that these have been used alongside sensory bins and Play-Doh. 🌿

🍎 I think this might be one of the easiest little fall activities we've shared yet.

An apple, some washable paint and a piece of paper. That's pretty much it. 😂🤎

Cut the apple in half, dip the cut side into a little paint and let the kids stamp away.

They can try different colours, make patterns, overlap their prints or completely ignore every idea you had and create their own thing instead. Which is usually how these activities go anyway. 😂

I love simple activities like this because there isn't a huge setup or a list of things you need to buy first. It's just an easy excuse to sit down together, get a little messy, talk, create and see what they come up with. 🍂

And there's plenty of quiet learning happening along the way too. Colours, patterns, shapes, fine-motor practice and discovering what happens when they press a little harder, use less paint or mix colours together.

Nothing complicated.

Just an apple, a little paint and some time together. 🍎🌿

Little note: an adult should handle cutting the apple before the activity begins. 🤎

A little update from behind the scenes 🌿

Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be taking a short pause from releasing new products and freebies while I finish setting up Hazel & Fern Printables properly.

We’ve also had some sickness working its way through our family, so I’m taking everything slowly and working around the children while they recover.

A few weeks ago, I shared some of the new resources I have planned—including our Australiana Busy Book, nature journal and other activities. These are all still coming and haven’t been forgotten. They’ll simply be arriving a little later while I focus on completing the rebrand and making sure everything is properly connected and consistent.

There’s quite a lot happening behind the scenes, from updating our files, shops and links to creating our new branding, banners and systems. I would much rather take the time to set everything up properly now than continue rushing while trying to catch up in the background.

We may be a little quieter on social media during this time, and there won’t be a new freebie this week, but I’ll still pop in whenever I can.

Thank you so much for your patience and for following along as Sketch Ink Studios becomes Hazel & Fern Printables. Nothing exciting has been cancelled—it’s simply taking a little longer while we give Hazel & Fern the proper beginning it deserves. 🌿

I just wanted to say a genuine thank you to everyone who has followed, liked, commented or shared our posts. Whether you’ve been here from the beginning or have only just found us this week, I’m so grateful that you’re here.

There’s still plenty happening behind the scenes as Sketch Ink Studios becomes Hazel & Fern Printables, and I’m really looking forward to sharing more simple learning ideas, activities and everyday moments with you.

Sometimes learning starts because a child notices something we would have walked straight past. 🌿
A tiny bug. A funny-shaped leaf. A feather on the ground. A flower that absolutely must come home with us. 😂
Then come the questions, the counting, the comparing, the touching, the collecting... and usually pockets full of things I definitely did not ask to bring inside. 🤣
I love printable activities, obviously, but I also really believe they're just one part of learning.
So much happens in the ordinary little moments. In the garden, on a walk, helping with dinner, digging in the dirt, talking together or stopping for five minutes because they've discovered something fascinating.
Sometimes we don't need to create the learning moment.
They're already finding them. 🤎🌿

A slower kind of day at our house today 🌿

Both of my little ones are feeling under the weather, 🤒 so we kept things very simple—some sunshine, a handful of chalk and plenty of colours and shapes on the ground.

No preparation and no pressure. Just drawing together, naming colours and making whatever came to mind. Sometimes these are the activities that work best, especially on the days when everyone needs to slow down a little.
