Before you see the rug, look at what it's made from.

Here we have our Raya in Burnt Sienna, beginning with felted New Zealand wool, chosen for its softness, depth and natural character. Hand-loomed into a dense 25mm pile, the fibre takes on the nubby texture that gives Raya its distinct character.

Look closely, and you'll notice how much of the material still comes through in the finished piece, the warmth, the texture and the richness of the colour.

From fibre to finish, Raya is a reminder that the beauty of a rug begins with what goes into making it.

The journey of every House of Bohi rug begins in our family workshop in Bhadohi, India.

Natural fibres move through many hands and many stages. From preparing and dyeing the yarns to weaving, washing and finishing, each step draws on generations of rug-making knowledge.

Slowly, colour takes form. Fibre becomes pattern. And the rug comes to life.
It then begins it's journey to your home, grounding your space, bringing warmth underfoot and becoming part of the way you live.

Meet Noorul, our binding master.

He has been practising his craft for more than 65 years and still has no intention of stopping. He has also known me since I was a child and is one of the many familiar faces that has been part of our family workshop for as long as I can remember.

These are hands shaped by decades of repetition, patience and skill. The kind of knowledge that comes from doing something thousands of times, refining it little by little, until it becomes instinct.

Here, Noorul is finishing the edges of our Daabi Rug in Ivory by hand, one of the final steps before the rug is complete.

We're proud to work alongside craftspeople like Noorul, whose knowledge has been built over a lifetime and continues to be passed on within our family workshop.

Our rugs are handmade in our family workshop in India over several weeks, before making their way to Australia.

Hearing my father speak about what House of Bohi means to him made me pause and take it all in.

He grew up around rug-making and has spent more than four decades producing pieces that have travelled to homes around the world under many different labels. But there is something very different about seeing our rugs now make their way to Australia under our own name, carrying our story, directly from our family home in Bhadohi to yours.

Perhaps that is what makes this chapter feel so special. That every rug that reaches you carries a little piece of home with it. It feels more personal, more fulfilling, and brings a different kind of joy to us and to our artisan community.
