Please say hello to BOAT RACE, my next collection of quilting cottons for windhamfabrics.
This will hit shops in March 2027, retailers are placing orders now! This was a really fun one to design. I made the artwork by hand, mostly colored pencil, and then built my repeats in Photoshop. I wanted to make an entire collection inspired by past summers, when my daughter Bee and I would make little boats of sticks and leaves and race them down our little creek. It also features a cameo of my neighbor and friend Heather Beatty Raker, reimagined as a chipmunk (sorry Heather) and her little sunfish sailboat. Bee is spending her summers on actual boats now, fishing and hanging out with her friends. I just finished re-making her bedroom, princesses have been replaced with boats, and can’t wait to show you the before and after.

The Sunseekers quilt shows off exactly what these prints do best!
This quilt is a stunner of a star, filled with a bit of fussy cutting, plenty of color, and no shortage of drama. Set against a deep garden of boisterous blooms, this 8-point star has been given a bit of a twist with a variation in diamond size. A simple border from a fabulous fabric is polished off with mitered corners, leaving nothing left to want!

Completely intentional.
When I designed the Whisp palette, I had a very specific mood in mind.
Not just a colour palette — a feeling.
Warm, graphic, a little retro without the costume. The kind of colours you’d find on a vintage poster or a well-designed 1960s kitchen.
Mid Century Modern, if you want to put a name to it.
Which is actually fitting — because the Whisp texture itself has roots in a printing technique known for its grainy, layered quality. That’s where the warmth comes from.
No pink, no purple, no pastels. Twelve colours that feel like they belong together - in time and in mood.

Repost@annamariahorner This is your reminder that when you’re looking at one of my fabric prints, every stroke you see was drawn in dozens of different ways before it was included it in the whole. I make countless more wrong strokes than I make right ones. It doesn’t matter how long I’ve been doing this, I still work and work and work for hours and hours to get it right. Even the simplest looking prints. I love watching you choose and use them, thank you. This is a very condensed few seconds.
