Design tip: If something feels a bit off in a room but you can’t quite put your finger on it, look for repetition. 🤍🤍🤍

Repeating key colours, shapes, or textures across furniture, finishes, and décor helps tie everything together. It gently guides the eye around the space, reduces that visual “noise,” and creates a feeling of calm without being boring.

It’s a simple trick, but it makes a big difference.

Spotted this little moment at the stand at the Design & Decor Show in Melbourne.

There’s something about a textured vase with oversized branches that instantly brings life and drama to a space (the good kind). It’s simple, but it makes a statement, and I love how pieces like this can anchor a room without trying too hard.

Interior trends come and go, but the ones worth paying attention to are the ones that feel good to live with.

Here are 3 trends we’re seeing everywhere right now (and how to actually use them in your home):

🌿 Nature-Inspired Decor
Think banana leaves, palm motifs, soft neutrals, and sculptural touches—this one’s all about bringing a calm, organic feel into your space.

🧶 Textural Layering with Natural Materials
From linen and jute to timber and terracotta—layering texture adds warmth, depth, and makes a neutral palette feel interesting instead of flat.

🪵 Japandi Style
The blend of Japanese and Scandinavian design continues to grow—and for good reason. Clean lines, warm finishes, and a calm, low-fuss feel. Yes please. Add a touch of wabi sabi with its organic imperfections, and you have the complete 2025 trend package!!

Which one are you loving right now?

You don’t need a full room makeover to make your home feel more inviting—sometimes it’s the little nooks and occasional spaces that make the biggest difference.

This one’s simple: a comfy chair, a few layered cushions, and some texture up top to bring it all to life. Perfect for a quiet moment, a cuppa, or just somewhere that feels good to walk past.

Don’t underestimate those in-between spots: they’re full of potential!

🤍Save this for next time you decide to restyle those occasional spaces.

It’s been a minute, so let me reintroduce myself.

I’m Marian: interior designer, founder of Aslan Interiors, and firm believer that your home should actually feel like yours… not like a showroom you’re scared to sit down in.

My thing? Personalised design. Not in a cheesy “your style, your way!” kind of way — but in a real, thoughtful, “tell me what your morning looks like so we can design around it” kind of way.

Because I’ve seen it too many times — homes filled with what’s trendy, but none of it really feels right. I want to change that.

So if your house looks fine but doesn’t feel like you, maybe it’s time we fixed that. My inbox is open.

A vase, a few old books, and a quiet little moment that makes the whole space feel softer. ✨

It’s always the simple things that bring the most warmth—pieces that feel like they’ve got a story, even if they’re just there to catch your eye as you pass by.

If your home’s feeling a bit flat and you’re not sure how to pull it all together, I’m just a message away. I’d love to help you create corners that feel like you.

A calm kind of comfort. 😌

This client’s living room was designed to feel soft, quiet, and easy to live in—neutral tones, layered textures, and artwork that adds just enough. Nothing loud, nothing trendy. Just home, the way it should feel.
