Nibs Gallery I'm Nicky, a UK artist living in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia. My commissioned work is diverse. I'd love to hear from you to see what you have in mind.

I specialise in personalised pet portraiture & illustration, abstract impressionism and art workshops. Ranging from requests for animal/family portraits, abstract art, illustration and design. I love all of these genres and the skill base that each one requires. So if you're after a one off design for a project, or a painting to fill an empty wall space or a portrait of a family member of the two legged or four legged variety, please get in touch.

❤️ Dedicated to Karen ❤️

Sadly months after Ryans wedding day, his Mom, Karen, passed away suddenly which naturally devastated the family.

It came to light that Ryan hadn't got a photo from the big day of just him and his Mom, so Amy, his bride, reached out to me. Could I possibly do a memorial painting bringing him and Karen together? I knew how much it would mean, so even though I can't remember ever doing a human portrait in paints before, (pastels and pencils yes, but paints no), I said I'd try my best but can't promise anything.

Amy did a bit of AI magic and erased herself from a wedding photograph of the three of them, which came out great. However, the photo was cropped on the bottom, no lower legs or feet. This meant me doing some detective work with researching which store Karens dress was bought from (discovering hem length and frill detail) and sifting through photographs to get glimpses of shoe details for both and piecing it all together. Also including the red bow and white lilies, as these are symbolic reminders of Karen.

It was a challenge for sure and after starting from scratch for the third time, I wasn't sure I had the skills to do them justice.

Thank you Amy for putting your trust in me to create something so precious. I truly hope I've done them proud. I know memorial paintings can't bring the subjects together again in life, but I sincerely hope they bring some comfort ❤️
