The season has changed (literally and figuratively) and for me in my life, and as you may know I’ve returned to the real estate office once again but this time, I’m looking to sell my business.

I’ve been in the deep sads about this decision and have had to give myself a lot of space to feel the feels but also start to unravel myself from what I’ve created, it’s all very heavy.

I began with babies and I’m moving on with a teenager, a tween who is off to high school in ‘24 and an almost tween; motherhood is honestly the hardest job evah! But it’s now time to also do something else for me (I start an undergraduate degree in February ✨) and stepping into our other business in real estate which surprisingly I’m really aligned with right now.

This business/job/creative life has grown me into the person I am today, taught me so many skills, resilience, creative joy, supported my life and family to here, all of which I am absolutely grateful for, and along with it, for you, supporting me in so many ways over the years.

I am looking to sell the digital assets (website, EDM, wholesale and refill wing, branding etc) along with the physical assets (market stall set up, lights, equipment and supplies) but it is in a position to walk in, run with it as you see fit and grow it to heights that I no longer can because of time constraints but I think someone who is passionate, a maker, a lover of candles can inject new life and love into The Little Flame Co.

I haven't shared this much before, but I've been burning candles and playing around with fragrance oils since I was in high school (whether mum liked it or not 😆 My favourite was oriental musk around the time Titanic was released at the movies. Fragrances linking with memories right? well hello core memory for me!) Back then they were paraffin candles and oil burners were the only thing available to me. But I could transform my room pretty quickly and create the comfort my introverted soul needed. (the insight on this comes now at 37 btw).

Before this, I was at after school care and the activities that I loved included playing around with making candles (weird right?!) the old electric frypan, broken candle tapers from a packet and crayons in a styrofoam cup. How we've progressed since then!

These days though, the comfort and sensory rest takes on new meaning and priority in my life (adulting huh? what a ride!) It's 11 years this year since I started making and really developing candle skills but also scent knowledge.

Last month I jet-setted off (read: drove the cruiser to the Mornington Peninsula 8.5 hours from home in case you were wondering) for a business retreat - a big deep dive into the business, the stories we tell ourselves and what we find that is keeping us from actually doing the things.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It was magic. But it was also tough - I don't travel much on the solo (I mean full round trip to places I've never been before - when I looked at Google Maps it was a shock to see where I was actually going) there was very little recharge space in the itinerary, I'd never met this group of amazing women before (apart from Ina via zoom) so let's just say my comfort zone was left at home!

But what I found was hugs (not a hugger usually, but I am now!) laughter, joy and safety - to share, be vulnerable, to laugh and to cry.

Well firstly, I still feel like I'm catching up, its a vicious cycle friend and I'm sure you know the FEELS.

Winter is coming and as we retreat into the warmth of our cosy homes for the seasonal quite-er time, here are my top 3 Winter Scenting tips.


🕯 Pick a heavier scent for the cooler months. The seasonal shift brings out warmth evoking spices, silky amber, vanilla. As a whole it is grounding for our twitchy nervous system (layering jackets, scarves and beanies on a windy day) scent is just as important! Weigh those frayed nerves down with woody, warm, spice and ground yourself.

🕯 Give the candle time to melt - Being home for longer periods = THE BEST TIME to get those candles out of the cupboards. You have the time right now to give the candles time to melt and scent and time to enjoy it. 4 hours is the optimum time for the wax to melt to the sides of the jar which gives you the strongest scenting.

✨ Always trim your wicks
✨ Avoid placing too close to wood fires (dust! gah the DUST!) or on mantles, direct heat sources will heat the candle up indirectly, scenting more but it won’t last as long
✨ Keep out of drafts and direct sunlight
✨ Clean the tops of your set candles with a dry cloth if it gets dusty!
