Small business means cutting costs wherever possible and for me, packaging is a big one. I love receiving a nice package in the post, don’t get me wrong. Some these days are so fancy! BUT I then throw it all in the bin and I feel wasteful every single time. For me, I’ve gone with a good quality unbranded mailer, a thank you card that I print myself and a business card that doubles as a swing tag ✌🏻

One thing I’ve had to decide on quickly is my take on AI in relation to this business. I feel like AI has become a dirty word and people have really strong feelings about it. I think my take is a little different maybe? I feel strongly about the fact that AI can be involved in a creative business WITHOUT it doing the creating. Removing backgrounds to make my flat lay mockups look better? I’m down. Drawing any part whatsoever of my designs? Nope, no way. I’m hoping that by choosing transparency and showing what I do and how I do it, people will trust that all of my products are hand drawn on my iPad (often during car naps) and AI is only used in the way that things like Photoshop has been used for gazillions of years. Thoughts??
