There's nothing quite like designing a home with uninterrupted ocean views. Our latest Sunshine Coast renovation is a luxury penthouse where every design decision has been carefully considered to complement the stunning coastal outlook.

With beautiful tile installations now mostly completed, this project is beginning to come to life. From the interior design selections through to the craftsmanship on site, every detail has been thoughtfully planned by our design and build team to create a timeless, sophisticated home.

The tiles are down (well, mostly!) at our Penthouse Project. I wanted something really timeless and classic for the floors, as the style of our Penthouse is quite traditional and stately.

These gorgeous tiles from Perini Tiles® are from their Pompeii range, borrowing inspiration from the marble frescoes and patterns of ancient Roman architecture.

These tiles really pull out the subtle warm tones of the Chiaro marble tile from Verona Stone Qld It’s so nice to contrast the simplicity of the wall tile with a beautiful pattern and provide some interest 💛

Really looking forward to seeing the cabinetry go in to offset our beautiful base 💛

〰️ Stories 〰️

The best way to decorate your home is with precious pieces collected over time. Books, photos, bowls, vases. The mementos we collect along our journey are not just things, they are part of our life story.

This shell travelled home with us from Pele Island, Vanuatu. We went for an early morning beach walk, right up to the point, where it wrapped back down towards another long stretch of remote beach. At the point, there was a deep channel of choppy current. Here, beneath a riot of Coconut Palms, was a vast treasure trove of magnificent clam shells, that had been washed up by the current. I couldn’t believe my eyes!

I took this one, which was less than a third of the size of some of the bigger ones. I never thought I would get through customs with it, but I did, and it has sat proudly on display in our home ever since. It will always remind me of that special, remote beach walk in the cool early morning air on a tropical island.

Decorating with treasured pieces is always so personal and such a nice way to tell your story.

〰️ Project Update 〰️

A few snippets from our magnificent Penthouse Project, Tides.

With panoramic ocean vistas, this home had the most spectacular ‘bones’- high ceilings, walls of windows and doors, and the most spectacular views, breezes and natural light.

We are enhancing this throughout our interior design: muted, soothing tones, deep ocean blues, and warm chiaro marble.

Fabrics by Diane Bergeron and Ashley Wild add layering, pattern and texture.

Swipe right to see the original green wool carpet- so plush and comfortable to live with but what a difference new marble flooring will make! Tiling to begin this week: can’t wait to see how the marble floors add opulence and luxury!

〰️ DOUBLE VANITIES

This is where twin basins sit atop a long vanity. It’s a popular trend at the moment, particularly in a master ensuite where two parties are often getting ready at the same time.

But… double the cleaning, less bench space, less drawers/ storage… it’s not for everyone. I urge clients to consider living with and using this configuration every day. I think an under mount basin is a nice option, like we did here in our Mooloolaba Penthouse Project.

As long as you have the extra length in the vanity (at very least 1600mm- 1800mm) to accommodate two basins, then go for it!
