LoobyLou

LoobyLou Candle with Conscience. Hand-poured in Australia Loobylou is driven by a love of candles and inspired by the connection between emotion and fragrance.

EXCLUSIVE FRAGRANCES DESIGNED + HANDMADE IN AUSTRALIA
PURE SOY CANDLE FREE OF PARRAFIN, LEAD + ADDED CHEMICALS

We believe in treading gently on the Earth, as we hand craft a natural product, which is socially responsible and of the highest quality. Each blend has been imagined, created, and perfected by us, for you, so that you may have a completely unique experience. Soy wax is a natural produc

t, and won’t release toxins. This also means it burns longer than its evil petro-chemical cousin, paraffin. We are firmly against adding any chemical stabilisers, emulsifiers or flame retardants into our candles. Loobylou candles look handmade because they are. We’re not in the business of compromising your health and well being for profit. To us burning a candle isn’t just about making your room smell amazing, we see the act of lighting a candle as a ritual that ignites an intention. Each candle has a quote we offer with the thought that in the moment of your reading it and lighting your candle, you are putting something beautiful out into the universe. This being the intent of Loobylou, they truly are candles with conscience.

I’m on a return stint my friends, steadily keeping shelves stocked, and working with my beautiful custom clients from Monday.

We also won’t be at the trade shows this year, but really big on honouring loyalty. What’s your preference friends? Complimentary freight for the three day window? Cheeky wholesale discount? You let us know, and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

Gratitude rocks. Let’s share it. X

I’m off back to Nz for the next stint, having stocked up all shelves! I have a client there who developed a fragrance allergy following an immune system shut down, but would love to have a room spray.

She seems to be ok with herbs & aromatics, so now I’m attempting to isolate what works via single notes. One at a time, on a different day for each.

It’s fascinating for me stripping it all back, and I’m looking forward to problem solving this one. I’m confident we’ll get there!

As you all know by now (if you’re on my mailing list) I’m in Nz working on a few creative projects, and freelancing here and there.

My client in the Manawatu has one of the most extreme fragrance allergies I’ve ever encountered, but wanted to find a way to incorporate a room spray into her home, so the thinking caps on.

I realised she was good with edible aromatics, and run a few ideas by her. Happy to say we cracked it. Peppermint, cardamom, star anise, cinnamon and fresh fresh yuzu rind. We nailed it, and yes, it is reminiscent of an Indian dessert. Mmmm

I quite love that my final task before departing on my travels through Nz are for - not only are they doing a giveaway for 50 people who update their contact details, the ongoing privilege of making these to be included in the thank you packs received by stem cell donors is an honour that will never be lost on me.

Don’t stress LoobyLou lovers, the shelves are heaving full, and order will be booked weekly. I wholesale, we’ve got you too. I mail going out soon. .gallery is still open by appointment, and online 24/7. But I’ll be back around 20th May.

Wish me luck out there! And feel free to follow along my travels.

Hi friends, how goes it?

As you know, things are going to look a bit different around here this year, with me chasing another dream simultaneously to keeping LoobyLou going. Not so different it’s dramatic, mainly for me. You can still order whatever you want online, stocks will show accurate, and orders will be sent accordingly. The biggest change is possibly some wholesale lead times, in that we’ve have ridiculously quick lead times all these years for product made by hand, and it’s really burnt me out. Too quick arguably, and it can’t continue.

That being said, if in stock orders will still be packed as they come in, there just may be occasions you have to wait longer. I’ll be living between Australia and Nz this year, and have decided to not have the pressure of regular staff, rather opting for casuals to pack orders as they come in. When I’m in Newcastle, I’ll make like an absolute machine, always endeavouring to have shelves left as full as possible.

This is your final warning for custom and any larger wholesale orders you may have been putting off. My first stint is mid March or thereabouts, so the last minute urgent orders can no longer be accommodated.

Subscribe to the mailing list, and I’ll fill you in more - or you can follow to peep my travels, and my reconnection to the place I never did stop calling ‘home.’

I wanted to share something quite moving that happened today. Whether you’ve been with me on these pages a short time or long time, you’ll know I’m only still here due to a generous young German man who donated his stem cells. On 17th May 2012, I underwent the transplant that without doubt saved my life.

Since then even when it’s hard, I passionately advocate for people to join the Stem cell registry and use my following so people can find my very alive and grateful self. Often the diagnosis for is brutal and feels hopeless - especially at Stage 4 where I was. So if me putting my silly mug on the internet can be a bridge for hope to travel on - I’ll keep doing it. You don’t know who or when someone you love might need stem cells or blood product. Research goes beyond blood cancers now, into the fields of HIV and MS research. For those people who need a transplant - it’s often because they won’t live without one - period. It’s a really simple process for the donor, and a life saver for the recipient.

This morning I visited in Köln / Cologne to say thank you. My donor is from here, and this is the head office that facilitated this to even occur. I wanted to meet them, to say thank you. Being here to do this is proof of important work they do, and why. Imagine being able to thank a group of people whose work is the reason you still exist? I’ll be thinking about it forever.

The beautiful Nicole and team were so warm and welcoming, and a few tears were shed. Spending time with Stephan, who manages the country and worked within the organisation for 35 years, was a privilege and a pleasure.

There were interviews, videos and about 400 photos the team will be sharing, with a view to call for donors on their socials and LinkedIn in the future. Me still existing is proof of the incredible work they do, and why.

thank you; but Dr Greenwood, who never ever gave up on me. Every day I am here and get to do something this incredible, I take you with me and hope it honours your life purpose too.
