We would like to thank the Wangaratta PAC for having us perform the Welcome to Country and Traditional dance to open the 2026 season launch. We are proud to be out bringing our cultures together. We are exited for a fabulous year ahead. Kev Cooper

Firstly, I would like to extend my sincerest apologies to the Wangaratta Football and Netball Club for the delayed post, due to a hectic few weeks. Nevertheless, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to you for providing my children and me with the opportunity to showcase our cultural heritage, which proved to be a truly proud moment for me as I watched my children perform the traditional dance at the smoking ceremony. It was truly remarkable to witness numerous individuals approach me, inquiring about our cultural heritage and acknowledging the efforts of the Wangaratta Football and Netball Club in fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect. It is great to see the team wearing traditional designs and art with pride, demonstrating love and respect for our past, present, and future.

It's fantastic to have the Rural City of Wangaratta involved in the NAIDOC events. It's wonderful to have a Mayor that is involved and supportive of the Indigenous community.

I felt very honoured to be apart of continuing my father's vision towards a united people, Indigenous and non-indigenous as one. The true meaning of reconciliation. Today's ceremony at marmungun rock was a brilliant highlight to the wonderful work the Wangaratta city council do.
